First Whole30 Log

This is my first Whole30 and I have been a little nervous.  I am the type of person that checks the scale way too often and get discouraged when I don't see any change in the number that pops up.  I am also the type of person that uses food as a cure-all for pretty much everything; sad...let's eat, happy....let's eat, nervous....give me something to eat.  I am so hopeful and optimistic that I can look back at the end of my thirty days and not fall back into that cycle again.  I am so ready to change my relationship with food and myself in general and live a happier and healthier life.  So here goes everything.

Day 1:  I weighed myself this morning and took measurements, then hid my scale and measuring tape away so I won't be tempted throughout my journey.  I was a little disgruntled this morning because it was the day after Easter and there are leftovers containing sticks upon sticks of butter as well as a ton of candy laying around the house.  Self discipline was rough and many times I questioned whether or not I wanted to commit fully and start right after Easter.  Not to mention, I was still recovering from a nasty sinus infection that already had me in a grouchy mood.  Probably not the best start but I persevere.

I didn't have to work until 12:30 so I wish I could say that I had plenty of time to have a breakfast, lunch, and dinner to take to work.  Not completely true... I allowed myself to sleep in a little to hopefully knock out the sinus infection and woke up closer to lunch time... No "breakfast" for me.  I still woke up and made myself a nice three egg omelette with spinach and cherry tomatoes.  Then I prepared myself dinner for my break at work.  I made myself a spinach salad with some Whole30 compliant caesar dressing topped with cherry tomatoes, a portion of chicken salad made with chicken, sliced grapes, and mayo that I made via the instructions of the book, and a portion of blueberries.

Fast forward getting to work...COOKIES, CANDY, CHIPS, BASICALLY EVERYTHING I CANNOT HAVE.   So much temptation in one small break area.  I stayed strong though and held on.  I made it through day one.

Day 2:  Woke up with a bit of a headache today...sugar withdrawals? I think YES! Time to power through.  I didn't work but I did have school all day.  Still made time to make food in between classes. Breakfast, I again had a three egg omelette with spinach and cherry tomatoes but I added in a half of a sweet potato to keep me going in the morning.  Lunch I had some left over chicken salad, the other half of the sweet potato, a serving of brussel sprouts, and a handful of grapes.  These meals have kept me satiated throughout the day.  For dinner I had some chicken that I cooked in some balsamic vinaigrette that is Whole30 approved, another handful of grapes, and a serving of brussel sprouts.   I am a bit nervous I am eating too much fruit... So I think I am going to add more vegetables  rather than relying on fruits.  We will see how it goes.  I have to work at 6:30 am tomorrow... so here's to positive thoughts that I stay on track...
