James the Greatest
I didn't see it in other threads, and I even re-read the bit in the rules that said: Do not consume added sugar of any kind, real or artificial. No maple syrup, honey, agave nectar, Splenda, Equal, Nutrasweet, xylitol, stevia, etc. Read your labels (and your Success Guide FAQ), because companies sneak sugar into products in ways you might not recognize. however, I'm new to food ingredient analysis, as well as eating anything besides t.v. dinners in general. so two questions: the ONLY things we can drink are water or pure fruit juice (such as the sugar in it being only naturally from the fruit)? aspartame and corn syrup are both no-go's, correct? thanks a ton in advance for any information, y'all. befabdaily
Yeah, flavored water has to be free of sweeteners and additives, and juice is actually discouraged (better to eat whole fruit) except in small quantities in recipes. Lately I have been drinking LaCroix bubbly water occasionally when I get tired of other options. It's flavored with fruit extracts (all natural, they claim) and is zero sodium, if that's a concern. Nancy H.
I make a great water by using Soda Water. I put it in a gallon container and add one orange slice very thin, one lemon slice very thin, one lime sliced thin. Put it is the refrigerator for 24 hours. Strain out the fruit and you have a very refreshing drink.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted October 30, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 30, 2012 You can't drink fruit juice during a Whole30. You can use fruit juice to sweeten a recipe, but you can't drink it as a beverage. Plain water is actually awesome if you give it a chance. At least after your taste buds recover from the over stimulation of a conventional diet.
James the Greatest
ooh, I misunderstood the juice aprooach then, thanks. and I do love plain water. I drink it constantly throughout the day (usually 2-3 litres). however, I'm spoiled in having flavoured water with meals. just wondering if there was an alternative. and if other than the LaCroix or soda waters (will have to Google those) there's nothing, then I'll have to be a big kid and just get over it, lol. thanks for the feedback, y'all. I'm finding this community to be very helpful.

CookinRuby
squeezing a wedge of lemon or lime (or both) into a cup of sparkling water is really refreshing and still has carbonation if that's what you're craving. I used to drink soda just for the carbonated effect
