Day 15 and super bloated and gassy :-/

Recommended Posts

I'm at day 15 and have been plugging away and doing all the right things. Before the Whole 30 I ate pretty well (besides my love of sugar), a ton of veggies, kale salad for lunch almost every day so my stomach is used to greens. But the last few days, no matter what, I feel gassy and my stomach seems bloated. I can't figure it out because the perk of the Whole 30 was that I should hopefully get rid of a lot of stomach issues and the dreaded bloat in my tummy.

Today I ate...

Breakfast : 2 eggs scramble with red peppers, tomato and 1/2 a small avocado and used coconut oil to scramble, coffee with some coconut milk

Worked out

Lunch: Greens, raw zucchini, beets with two meatballs I made yesterday

Pear

Any ideas? I'd love to feel better and lose my stomach bloat

Um... first, you're not eating enough, so it's possible the excess stomach acid from expecting more food is causing problems.  Eggs when they are your sole source of protein are as many as you can hold in one hand without dropping... most people start at 3-4. Did you eat 2-3 cups of red pepper and tomato?

How big are the meatballs? Two meatballs isn't very much food.  I don't see fat in your lunch...

You may want to consider eating cooked veggies rather than raw, drop the fruit snack (fruit is to be eaten with meals and if you're needing to snack, that proves my point that you're not eating enough).

Oh man, 3-4 eggs seems daunting first thing in the morning. Maybe I'll try to add an extra protein to breakfast.

The meatballs are on the larger side and I thought that the fat from the meat would count as fat? I did have some Tessemae's dressing on there too.

For dinner I had 1/2 chicken breast and  some roasted broccoli, cauliflower and carrots and a dollop of homemade mayo.

Looking back at my day, I guess that isn't a ton of food but I'm just not that hungry lately. Is that a thing that happens?

Another thought: are you eating a lot of something that you didn't eat previously? Coconut products, for example, can be gas and bloat producing in some people.

It's also entirely possible your gut is just healing. When I have gone a long time between Whole30s I definitely notice being bloated around the midpoint of my Whole30. A word to the wise, do not go shopping for new clothes during this time.

Hope you feel more normal soon!

@ladyshanny @dlo363 @ultrarunnergirl I'm now on day 19 and my gut still has a very frustrating pooch to it. Usually my belly responds quickly to a better diet and will flatten out but this Whole 30 it is this very odd bloated look all day long. The only time it seems 'normal' is in the morning before I eat any food. I have my appetite back so I'm eating my 3 squares and trying to be good about adding fat and being balanced. I just was hoping my belly would adjust.

I use coconut oil on my non-Whole 30 diet as well but I don't use coconut milk as a creamer, so maybe that is something?

I know it is not all about how we look but how we feel and all that but I have to say, I don't feel great about my weirdly protruding belly just because it is so odd looking.

Thanks for all the tips! I will keep plugging away and hope things start to normalize for my last 11 days. I am so excited there are only 11 more days!

It seems to have passed, the last two days have been so much better! It was bad for the middle 10 days and now it seems I have turned a corner and my stomach is no longer painfully bloated. Whew. Plus, I felt like I had the energy to run circles around the others at the gym yesterday. Thanks!
