EmilyP866
Is vegetable gum compliant? I've searched thfor forum and the "before you ask can I have ____" but was unable to find anything. Also, I have balsamic vinegar that says "contains sulfites" on the bottle. I am still unsure if it saying this makes it non compliant. Thank you! Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted May 3, 2017 Moderators Share Posted May 3, 2017 Chewing gum kickstarts the digestion process when no food is incoming. Not sure if 'vegetable gum' is ingredient compliant because you have not listed the ingredients here but it would be recommended to stay away. I also doubt it doesn't have a sweetener of some ilk. If sulfites are listed in the ingredients, the product is out. If it is just noted on the bottle elsewhere that's an indication that the sulfites are naturally occurring and that's fine. This particular topic about sulfites has been discussed at length on the forums. Google is the best way to search for previous discussions

Administrators ladyshanny Posted May 3, 2017 Administrators Share Posted May 3, 2017 I think she's referring to an ingredient on a label (ie, xantham gum, guar gum) which are usually used as thickeners. Yes, it's fine.

EmilyP866
Yes referring to vegetable gum in a hot sauce. I did research and read about the sulfites listed in the ingredient list on balsamic vinegar being out and naturally occurring ones being allowed but the way it stated that it "contained sulfites" and didn't say they were naturally occurring confused me. thanks everyone!
