AgathaLauren 0
The bf and I are trying to include more of the healthy, high on Omega-3 fish in our diet. Are there any, besides canned sardines that are a relatively low cost option? I've been hit-or-miss finding wild canned salmon, but I was hoping for some fresh or frozen kinds. Most importantly, we're on a SUPER tight budget, so the options can't be too expensive. Thanks! -Elle
Susan W 3553
If you belong to Costco, they have really good frozen salmon. Not sure if that is out of your budget, but it's worth checking out. Also, Trader Joes has good prices.
Moderators Tom Denham 10042 Posted October 31, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 31, 2012 The health food store near my house sells a good canned salmon for around $3.50 a can, so relatively low priced options exist. I've been making salmon salad as often as once per day lately. I add a boiled egg to up the protein in my salad just a bit. I eat the whole thing as one meal, but many people could get two servings from it. Here is a recent recipe, but I adjust how I make it almost every time... http://www.wholelife...-and-raw-onion/
Derval 3321
Fresh mackerel is pretty cheap over here. 4 fillets for €4 in the supermarket.
Kirsteen 2124
Over here Asda do frozen wild atlantic pink salmon fillets. Asda belong to Walmart so I don't know if they'd do it over there but it works out at about roughly $5 a pound, which is usually about 4 fillets.
Austin 95
Yup, Walmart do frozen wild caught salmon for about $6 per pound. From what I can gather, a lot of their frozen seafood is wild caught.
