mmb3
I'm all the way to Day 29 and am wondering what I'm doing wrong to cause gas and bowel movements that totally clean out my system. I searched the forums to see if I could find anything like what I'm experiencing, didn't find anything quite like what is going on with me. I've waited this long to post, thinking if I got farther into my Whole30 it would resolve itself, but it hasn't! First up, we have been using recipes from Whole30 and the Real Plans app, have stuck to all the guidelines very strictly with the exception of worrying if there is any sugar in the bacon/lunch meat/other meat etc. (we have been eating that only if it says "less than 2%" because we've checked in all the stores in our area and none seem to sell completely sugar-free) and have been eating ground beef, ham, and some chicken for most of our meat choices. On days 1 and 2, my system totally cleaned itself out, which didn't surprise me seeing that I had switched my eating habits. Since then, I only seem to have a bowel movement every 3-4 days and it's the same--totally cleans my system out. Not a normal bowel movement at all. To add to that, regardless of my bowel movements or even what I'm eating (as far as I can tell), I have absolutely foul smelling gas. Not bloated, not painful, just awful! They don't coincide with the bowel movements, necessarily, they are just their own "side effect". Other than that, having a great Whole30. I've lost inches, some of my clothes are very loose, some that I haven't worn for a long time finally fit. I'm sleeping fine, but I have been dealing with exhaustion at the end of the day in the last week. I am not a fan of meat, Whole30 has been hard for me that way, so I have leaned towards the hash-style recipes or putting the taco meat recipe on top of lettuce, etc. I perhaps am not eating enough carbs to sustain my energy? What do I do about the gas etc?
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted May 29, 2017 Moderators Share Posted May 29, 2017 Hey there; It's not possible for us to give you ideas of how to deal with the gas or what might be causing it without detailed information about what you've been eating, which has not bee provided. We would need a list of 3-4 days of your meals including specific veggies, protein, fat and fruits, water intake etc... Not everyone has the cookbook or the Real Plans app so you'll need to be specific when mentioning recipes. Second, unfortunately you've not really done a Whole30. If you were not able to find lunch meat and bacon without sugar, you would have been best off not eating lunch meat and bacon... it's not hard to go 30 days without processed meat.
