vquanm
Hi, I started the whole30 21 days ago, on May 9, and it has been going great! The sugar dragon disappeared fairly quickly and I love how much better I feel! But lately I've been struggling. As summer starts, mango season starts as well, and mango is by far my favorite fruit. On the last couple of days I've been eating roughly 1 mango a day (sometimes a bit more), but I feel like my sugar dragon is awakening and is making me crave mango so much. I love the fruit and I definitively want to keep eating it once in a while, but I'm scared that my brain is starting to think that after every meal I should have some mango as dessert. I would love to get some advice on how to balance my consumption of mango and not over do it. So far what I've been trying is to not have it at nights (and ideally to just have some mid-morning as a snack), but I welcome any other advice or suggestion of what should I do! Thank you for your help!! xoxo
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted May 30, 2017 Moderators Share Posted May 30, 2017 Well, we don't recommend fruit on its own as a snack or dessert at all, regardless of the season... can you put some mango on a salad or in a nice fresh pico? You may also want to impose your own standards of limits to this item that seems to be problematic. Maybe you only buy one a week? The only REAL way to stop craving something that you're craving tho is to stop eating it. Full Stop. It's not the most well recieved answer, but if you're finding yourself having a problem with it, much like anything else that we overconsume when we have an unhealthy attachment, you just stop eating it. I'd give the above a try first and see if you can't just limit your consumption and make sure you're having it with a full protein, fat and veggie meal (not letting that mango push any veggies off your plate and not using it for 'dessert') and if that doesn't work, it might be cold turkey (mango) for you... vquanm
thank you @SugarcubeOD! i will definitively try just buying one mango per week, and adding it to a salad is a great idea! I know the best thing to do is stop eating it completely, but I want to try first decreasing the quantity I consume, since I would like to still eat mango every once in a while, but if I see that my craving stays the same, then I know I have to definitively cut it out of my diet.
