Here's hoping!!!!

I've done a fair bit of research on paleo eating and have decided to take the plunge and do the whole30. I'm a 32 year old figure athlete, but let's just say over the past year, my 'figure' is pretty non existent! After doing the traditional bodybuilding cutting diets, I'm looking for a better way of getting into condition and maintaining it. I suffer from celiac disease, epilepsy although thankfully I've been seizure free for 18 months now, and rheumatoid arthritis, which affects my knees and shoulders, making training difficult at times. I'm hoping doing the whole30 will ease these symptoms. And although weight loss isn't necessarily my goal, let's be honest, losing half a stone would be quite nice!! Enjoying my last diet coke here and have all my food prepped for a 13 hour shift tomorrow (nursing). I'd really appreciate the support from other members, and I'll do my very best to be supportive in return.

Welcome aboard! You can do this and I look forward to hearing more in the coming days about how fabulous you feel!

I was diagnosed at 30 with arthritis in my knees as well. Medication did little, heat only does so much, and the exercises meant to help only hurt. The only thing that has made a difference, and I mean a tremendous difference, has been an anti-inflammatory diet! Cut out the grains and sugars and the pain is gone.

I'm only on my second week of whole30, but my body had been giving me that message for a long time. I would be going along eating well, then I would have a week of eating terrible (bread, cereal, & baked goods are my kryptonite!). Then my knees would just ache; constantly! I've come to know what people mean when they say that arthritis can predict the weather; if there's a storm coming my knees ache with the pressure change. But more importantly I've come to see that the arthritis has made my knees a good barometer for how healthy I'm eating as well. Eat poorly, ache. Eat well, feel well.

I hope that you find the transition to be smooth, and I hope you find what you were looking for on this journey.

Welcome! Finding and following this site has been one of the best things I've ever done. Everyone is so supportive. I also have celiac and have found the whole9 way to be the best way to be healthy and gluten free. You will love how this way of living makes you feel and helps to heal your body. Best wishes to you!!! :D
