Ghee and coconut side effects

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this board and the whole30. I'm having to change my diet due to an autoimmune disease that all my doctors can't figure out so I'm taking over my health now. I'm day 3 of eating everything right but every time I eat dinner I'm so sick, nauseated, and bloated. I'm eating chicken, coconut wraps and garlic glee spread. Does the coconut or Ghee cause these things? Lunch I eat a chicken salad and no problems. Please help.

I don't know what coconut wraps you mean, but they're probably not allowed (some explanation here:  https://whole30.com/2013/12/pure-wraps/

My guess is the coconut is the most likely culprit -- too much of it can cause issues for many people. That's the first thing I'd try removing.

Ghee causes problems for some people, especially if they have known issues with lactose or dairy. Theoretically, the problematic parts of dairy are removed in the process of making ghee, but for people who are particularly sensitive, there may be just enough left to cause issues.
