Lunalux
Can someone share with me how to make a whole30 approved vanilla flavor. I wanted to bake some apples and use vanilla as a flavoring but since I can use extract and I couldn't fine any bottled that would suffice I bought whole vanilla beans but am not sure what to do to get the flavoring. kirbz
If I recall correctly, vanilla bean powder is allowed. Here is one that I had planned to purchase: https://www.amazon.com/Wild-Foods-Vanilla-All-Natural-Non-GMO/dp/B00WHDC2Z4/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1505432716&sr=8-4&keywords=vanilla+powder. Hopefully a moderator will correct me if I've provided inaccurate advice!
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted September 15, 2017 Moderators Share Posted September 15, 2017 That powder would be okay, but since you've already bought vanilla beans, this explains how to use them: http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-use-a-vanilla-bean-181511 You can bake apples without vanilla too. You probably shouldn't be having baked apples a whole lot on a Whole30 (they're very desserty), but if it were to come up in the future, I'd just skip the vanilla and bake them with cinnamon and ghee or coconut oil and call it good.
