On my way to (hopefully) a gas and bloat free life

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone...I'm Shelley......I eat relatively healthy....I'm a non-smoker, rarely drink alcohol, stay away from fast food, drink only water, OJ and milk and try to incorporate healthy choices in my daily meal plans...although I admit to having a severe "sweet tooth" and I simply love potatoes and cereal......Over the last several years, I've begun to notice several negative changes in my digestive health......excessive belching, bloating after meals, abdominal distention and very painful, very stinky flatulence....assuming this was related to dairy, gluten or excessive ingestion of greens, I've seen my GP and also been to a GI specialist in search of answers to these problems....i was eventually told that I was eating too many greens and to "cut back".....a friend of mine introduced me to the Whole30 plan and had nothing but good things to say.....so starting Monday 5/21, I'm giving it a shot....I'm hoping to figure out what food(s) are triggers for the above mentioned symptoms......I'm excited, although a bit nervous about the impending sugar and carb withdrawl....wish me luck and I will post as often as I can about my journey !

Hi Shelley,

I did the Whole 30 for the same reasons you are currently doing it with wonderful results. My family no longer has to wear gas masks when I am around. It's been this way for most of my life. Hopefully you will experience the same results. It took about 3 weeks before I realized I was no longer permanently bloated and gassy, so hang in there. Results will surely come but they might not come quite as quickly as you hope.

I started my 3rd Whole 30 today. Time to push my reset button again. Off to post my own thread about that. ;)

Susan Q22, I realized the same thing!

Shelley, you were told that you were eating too many greens? <frustration!> I'm curious to hear what you find... for me it is/was definitely dairy! And man—it smelled like a dead animal was in my gut!
