Broccoli rabe is one of my favorite food. yet I can't help but feel guilty when I buy it. According to the detaled shopping list, the bolded items are more nutritious and unfortunately, broccoli rabe does not make the cut.

Can you explain the difference between bolded and non-bolded items on that list, and why broccoli rabe is not an ideal food?

There is nothing to worry about here. If broccoli rabe were the weak link in your diet, you would be eating better than 99.9 percent of us. Broccoli rabe is good food and you can eat it frequently as part of a healthy diet, but it is not as nutrient dense as the broccoli or greens with which it is comparable. If you compare http://nutritiondata...products/7359/2 and http://nutritiondata...products/2356/2 you can see that broccoli rabe is good, but broccoli provides more nutrition. Green beans are not bolded either, but the Whole9 thought they were important enough that they made a special exception to include and highlight them in the Whole30.
