Bethie Annie
Any tips from successful Whole 30s? I have been reading up, taking notes and studying to prepare for my Whole 30 start. I feel like I'm prepping for an exam. I don't want to fail. I have a folder on my computer with whatever Whole 30 info, articles, websites and recipes I can find.I signed up to start receiving my Whole 30 motivation on January 2nd. I have done Paleo in the past, but of course, I was not as stringent with small amounts of additives or alcohol (red wine) etc. Thanks for being out there, I will need motivation and help! ladyhoward
I have only done one so far (from Sept 4 through Oct 4), but I too will be starting again soon. I may start this month or wait until after the holidays - I haven't decided, but I definitely recommend the program - it works! I haven't done well off the Whole30 with my eating - I have let the Sugar Dragon have way too much control lately so it's time to get back on track - very hard to do this time of year that's for sure! I think you're preparing in the best way possible - I did the same thing before I started so I wasn't trying to figure it out as I went along while suffering the ill-effects of the healing process . I also found the forum to be a great help - the members answered my questions when i wasn't sure what to do or where to find something, they offered lots of encouragement as well. Are you doing this by yourself or do you have family members who are joining you on this journey as well?
Keri W.
Welcome aboard! Some tips: On tough days, remind yourself that 30 days is not a very long time. It helps me to read up on all of the terrible ingredients that are in the foods that I crave. It makes me view those foods in a negative light and helps to keep me away from them. If you haven't read "It Starts With Food," it is excellent and worth your time! My final tip...consider the Whole30 to be a vacation from obsessing about weight, the scale, measuring cups, etc. It is the opportunity to let your body be your guide and only YOU know what your body needs. Don't be afraid to eat. You should not be hungry and if you are, that's your body telling you to feed it. Listen to yourself and even though you may think you are eating a ton, your body may need it until it adjusts and balances itself out. Best wishes to you! Bethie Annie
Thank you both! It's so nice to know there are other people out there who have struggled or are struggling with doing the right thing for your body. It seems like a no-brainer but is so difficult. My biggest problem in the first few days will be sugar! Next will be red wine. My husband claims that he will do it with me (although I have my doubts-he likes to go out at least once a weekend with friends, and I think being around friends who drink will be the biggest challenge for us both) Yes, I am currently reading "It starts with food" Love it, well written, motivating without a lot of repetitive reasoning.I have been keeping short notes that I can glance at and reinforce the reasons I am doing this for myself during the challenge. I have been reading different forums and grabbing info from there too. I signed up for the daily emails from Whole 30 and pre-paid. I like having a set date in my head. I chose January 2nd as start because of the holiday eating/craziness and stress. I know it would be far too overwhelming along with a de-tox for me. Keri, I will look at it as a break from diet, that is a great idea. Instead of seeing what I can't have, think of what I can have that will help my body heal. LadyHoward, I am so afraid I will completely fall off the wagon when I am done...I hope I am so pleased with the outcome that I don't fall back into bad habits. I guess that is when I will really need the strength and help of others! Thanks Again! I'll take any motivation and tips I can get!
