TheMuellers
Does anyone have a quick, easy and yummy recipe for homemade salsa?
TheMuellers
Nevermind, just had to look in my pantry. I verified with the owner, no sugar added. Here is a link to Salsa Royale. You buy the season packet, add a can of tomatoes, onion, lime juice. Blend for 5 seconds.....and done. Yummy salsa! http://www.salsaroyale.com
jennrider
Glad you found one. I make my own and can it. It's super easy. In the summer I use my own tomatoes and peppers. In the winter I buy fire roasted tomatoes and use those. The fresh tomatoes take a little more work because I cook them and run them through a food mill. If using canned, I sauté an onion, garlic cloves and the pepper. Add that to the canned tomatoes with fresh cilantro and salt. Blend it all together. I usually have an extra can of tomatoes in case the pepper is really spicy.
Susan W
It's so easy to make. I have not seen you on these boards before. Welcome.
Breezygoat
I use a can of fire roasted tomatoes, some raw onion (just a little), cider vinegar, lime juice, salt, a can of green chiles and a healthy dose of mojo de ajo. Toss it in the BlendTec and in 5 seconds, everyone's just a little bit happier. TheMuellers
Thanks everyone. @slw600, yes just started. On Day 5, just trying to navigate through what is allowed and not allowed on the Whole 30!

I always tend to make raw salsas but I actually prefer cooked salsas.
Breezygoat
Me too, slw. I prefer when that raw "edge" is gone.
Susan W
Exactly. My mom and brother love raw salsas. I think I was switched at birth.
May1990
Chips will not be complete without salsa, but we usually use store-bought salsa. I will check the links and try it soon.
bonnynancy
Just a quick note -- I happen to be on vacation in Pacific Mexico right now, and yesterday had the best salsa: just tomato, onion, cilantro, lime, and a bit of chopped up cucumber. I've never seen cucumber used in salsa, but it gave it the loveliest fresh taste. I will definitely be trying this at home!
