clementine
Day one, super excited about it! I forgot to check the turkey for added sugar. Have to start my day one over tomorrow:( I am also quitting smoking at the same time. Even though I accidently messed up first day I still havn't picked up a cigarette today or ate anything else I wasn't supposed to eat. I'm all in! I work at a shipping place and the next week is probably going to be the busiest and most stressful of the year for Christmas. But when you want to change you want to change! kb0426
Consider it an excellent practice day! Great job on the cigs and the commitment!
MJam
I would totally rather mess up day one than day 25 or something much further along. Awesome learning experience and READ.EVERY.LABEL.EVERY.SINGLE.TIME...even weird stuff you would think wouldn't have non-compliants in them, over the past 3 days I have seen posts about no-nos in vinegar and salt. BUT CONGRATS on the no smoking and your commitment to yourself!

AmyS
I did that. Had a cough drop my first afternoon. Lordy! Agree with Susan, think of it as a Whole31.
clementine
Thank everyone for your feedback, I checked my salt sure enough no-nos! Wow, I can't believe how much bad stuff is in food. My birthday is being celebrated Thursday, Dad not too happy about me not being able to eat lasagna. I'll have to be tough and say no! Its about time I learn how to say no! I still think at first the hardest part for me is not smoking I have been smoking almost half my life and I am 33! Thanks again, having this and yall is making this more tolerable! AmyS
So laughing at cough drop. Not nice of me but it makes me giggle. Haha - I was teaching a voice lesson and had the beginnings of a coughing fit. I grabbed the cough drop immediately and then realized "d'oh, SUGAR." But the coughing fit stopped and I finished my lesson and - here's the cool part - the longer I've eaten in this Whole30 kinda way, the less I cough. The better my voice is. The less allergies I suffer. Etc. So - I don't need the cough drops now!!! Woot!
Susan W
I admire you for taking the stop smoking step. I have never smoked but my 27 yo does. I wish I could will her to quit.

clementine
It is funny about the cough drop, today I have noticed myself too just naturaly wanting to reach for some gum. Something to keep my mouth busy! I can't believe it but in about an hour I will have finished day two without a cigarette! It is technically a successful day one on the whole 30 but for some reason I didn't get the day one email today to check that I did it! Even though that I checked that I didn't last night and they sent my Day 0 again. Maybe it will come tomorrow, and it be a whole 32 lol, this just keeps getting longer! I am enjoying the healthy eating and I am already coughing less like you said Amy, today it is a lot drier cough too! Yeah! I thought I was going to break down about halfway through the day, but I made it! Thanks to support from hubby! I wish I could will your kid and my husband, and most of my family to quit smoking as well. It is so awful for us.
clementine
Well, day 2 is in the books, I find that I am hungry quite a bit. I feel like I am eating pleny and worried about snacking too much on nuts but my stomach growls a lot during the day. I feel my worst right before my meals. I am eating over a handful of nuts or about and about 3 small pieces of fruit a day along with 3 decent size meals. Lots of green tea. But I am so happy to be doing this. My husband is on the diet too but not as strict. We are thinking of visiting a farm near by and buying a share of the meat. All the animals are pastured and grass fed and such. I am so excited about that for health reasons and enviromental reasons!
AmyS
Hooray for day 3! I'm guessing you need to eat more protein and fat at each meal. You'll be surprised at how much you need.
clementine
Thank you Amy, I will try that. I thought I was eating enough, but you are probably right. That is what I enjoy eating the most right now or what I crave the most. I think I ate the best boiled egg I have ever had tonight on a salad.
