Can't handle kombucha?

Anyone else find their digestion can't seem to handle kombucha?

We have been drinking it for around a month or so, and it seems to go straight through me, and my 2.5 year old son, even small amounts.

Or could something else be wrong causing the kombucha to be a problem for us?

Yeah thats what I am afraid of.

I am gathering its because my gut is so damaged from 11 years of crappy eating.

But then that doesn't explain my sons reaction. He is 2.5 years old, never had formula, breastfed until 18 months (not as long as I would have liked though), he has had crappy food but surely not long enough to do huge damage like for me?

He is getting probiotics as well. I guess we just keep going with whole 30 eating (although my children do eat between meals, nuts, boiled eggs etc, as they seem always hungry.

What else can I give him to help his gut? Coconut oil is good isn't it for that?

Sometimes the best thing is to just keep eating good food and giving it time. I don't think there is a magic bullet to make it right all at once. That said, some foods that are notably good for gut health are sauerkraut, kimchi, and bone broth.

I think kombucha is foul. I know people talk about it a lot here, but there's no earthly reason to drink it if it doesn't agree with you! It's not a required component of Whole30. As for gut things, I had really good effects from just adding a little raw sauerkraut to my diet daily. I had adjustment problems during my first Whole30; when I added sauerkraut during my second one it was like night and day.

Buy, but have got a brew of my own going right now.

Just to add for my son, he has had no vaccines and was birthed at home, so really his gut should be pretty healthy right?

I thought dairy was the problem which is why I stopped buying milk (they drank a cup a day maybe before I stopped it, raw when I could get it). This also caused the same reaction as what the kombucha seems to.

I am just surprised, as I thought it was good bacteria his gut needed, and didn't think this type of reaction would be possible. When he was breastfeeding and eating food, his poo was normal.

I see no reason to continue to give it to your son if it bothers him. Let him just rejoice in the great food you offer him. Now..back to you. Did you start slow and build up to what you are drinking now? I like it but it's not like a medicine I have to have. It takes me about 2 days to drink one 12 oz bottle and I enjoy every minute...as a beverage.
