Snacking????

Recommended Posts

So I'm still a little unclear on whether or not I am supposed to completely eliminate snacking. Not like crazy snacking just if I want an apple randomly can I have it or no because it isn't part of a 'meal'?  All the snacks would be acceptable whole30 snacks like fruits or dried beet chips with only one ingredient (beets!). Are we supposed to only eat our 3 meals and nothing in between or what..

if someone could refer me to where it talks about this on the official website that would also be great. Thanks!

The no snacking is a recommendation, not a rule, so if you have an apple between meals, you don't have to start over. This explains why the recommendation is not to snack:   https://whole30.com/2015/01/rules-recommendations/

Remember that no commercially prepared chips are compliant on whole30, regardless of what vegetable or fruit they're made of, so unless you made the beet chips yourself, they aren't okay as a snack or part of a meal. You can find the explanation of this in the Can I Have guide:   https://whole30.com/2013/06/the-official-can-i-have-guide-to-the-whole30/

Thanks! and while I have you here, I was wondering what the rationale behind no legumes is? Especially why it's the seed that is so bad

Google 'legume manifesto Whole30' and you can see what the creators of the program have to say.  If you would like further indepth information, it's all in the book It Starts With Food which is the science behind all the ins and outs of the program.
