Christy BA
We are looking for crunchy foods - getting tired of apples and carrots. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

melbournegirl
Coconut flakes and carob nibbles? Adding chopped nuts or seeds to dishes like mashed squash or quiches also adds some crunch to meals.
Robin Strathdee
Bell peppers, celery, pears, jicama.
Christy BA
Oh! I forgot about nuts! And I'll send my husband to the store to search for veggie chips. Thank you!!!!
Kirsteen
I'm afraid I've never managed to find any commercial veggie chips that weren't cooked in dodgy oils or had other nasties added.

Hi Kirsteen, That's why I was suggesting making her own.
Christy BA
Making my own is certainly on my 'to-do' list. We need foods handy and ready to go when we are. I'm spending a lot of time in the kitchen these past few days.
Christy BA
I'm shocked - we carry kale chips in this tiny town in Alaska!
Elizabeth Anne
Bell peppers, celery, pears, jicama. This is pretty much exactly what I was going to say, although I hadn't thought of the pears. Also, snap peas or snow peas (the kind that come in a huge green pod), raw or lightly steamed broccoli, and water chestnuts work for me. Sometimes I just want a lot of initial resistance to my teeth, rather than a full-on "crunch" texture, and then I like cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes, and some kinds of fruits (plums and grapes especially), although fruits are very easy for me to overeat. I tend not to have that same trouble with vegetables. Good luck!
Callan
I've been putting some sunflower seeds (sprouted!) on my salads, which is super crunchy. Veggie chips is a good suggestion, I might cook up (or dehydrate?!) some beets and/or sweet potatoes soon.
