Started February 1!

I started Whole 30 on February 1 too. Well in to Day 3. I’ve been doing a very loose Paleo since May but hadn’t tackled sugar, wine, or dairy. Here goes! Can’t believe how much sugar is in everything. Learning to like black coffee!

Yes I was so surprised too how much sugar is in everything! Even in thins I never thought of I was so surprised. I will be starting on my W30 journey on Monday but I went grocery shopping these last few days and 1. Was amazed how long it took me compare to my past experiences, hence having to read everything I picked up, 2. Was proud of how much veggies, fruited, and just good wholesome products I purchased, and no junk. I spent my day clearing out my pantry, fridge and freezer and it’s like a 180 from what it was! I can’t wait to start. How have these last few days going?

I started February first also, and am on track so far. I am thrilled with how easy it's been so far, except for day two, but,  having done quite a few "life changing diets" over the years, know that I will have tough days as well as good all along the way.  I am doing it with my husband, daughter-in-law, her mother and my sister.  We have a group text for ourselves that we use to check in with everybody, and that has really been good and fun.  It helped that I started prepping my kitchen the week before and that the book gives me a day by day description of (roughly)  how I will feel as I move through my thirty days.  On day two I had mild nausea occasionally and low energy to the point that I thought my knees might give way, but that was like a little 24 hour bug and passed, thank goodness.  Has anyone else experienced that "flu" in their first couple days? Any other info you want to pass along to a fellow traveler?

Thanks WJSTAR and Whole@60 for responding to my post! Its fun to have some fellow travelers starting in February. I hope in particular that you have had a good day WJSTAR as I know this was your first day. So far the first day was the hardest for me but not horrible. The thing I didn't expect was wanting to eat something after dinner...nothing specific but I think I have been used to dessert or an extra snack. What helped with that was some advice from Whole 30 about discerning the difference between a craving and hunger. Ask yourself am I hungry enough to eat some fish and rice or something compliant like a hardboiled egg. If the answer is no that is a craving and will pass. If the answer is yes than you should eat a compliant snack.

I didn't have a lot of flu like symptoms just a little headache in the morning which passed with a cup of black coffee. Today I felt really energetic...its only Day 5 so we will see if this continues. I have been having some herbal tea in the evening after dinner as a new routine and that helps with wanting a little something something.

Good luck to you both!
