happykate
It is going to be a big year. I will have my knee replaced and my oldest will graduate high school - those are the two things I know about!! I also know that I will begin my year in tip top shape because of clean eating and regular exercise. My weight on Dec 28, 2012 was/is 164 lbs. (I have taken measurements which will remain private) During the week after Christmas Eve, I ate holiday special foods that were traditional and of the best quality- homemade. I will check in each evening with what I ate log. I normally write down everything I eat and how well I sleep, and what physical activity I do. I did the Whole30 in June with my teenage daughter and my log is here in the "Your Whole30 Log". I did my second Whole30 with new friends from the bay area and my log is on my Facebook - Whole 30 small group. Now, the third time - I have signed up for the Whole30 Daily emails, and will be joined by a friend from Tennessee and bay area friends on the 7th-9th of Jan. For me, there is no time like the present!!

happykate
Day 1, 1-1-13 Tuesday Happy New Year!! I have researched making our own bacon today - I think it would be very rewarding. During the 2nd W30 I found a meat source in the Ferry Building in SF that has W30 compliant bacon - delish!, But pricey and not exactly accessible. 1. Bacon 2 slices, 1 almond waffle, 2 soft boiled eggs, 2 cups coffee 2. Melissa Joulwan's "Chex Mix" nut mix, hand full, Adellis Artichoke and garlic chicken sausage, TJ's Garlic chicken sausage, saurkraut, unsweetened applesauce 3 Crock pot chicken with Penzey's BBQ 3000, onions, leeks and chicken stock sauce, green beans, 4 dates. Trip to Safeway which is less easy for W30 than a trip to TJ's meat wise and distraction wise. Settling into some label reading. No work out - but I did have a nap - its a holiday treat. Sleep 10-1- 6:40 I think I was awakened at 1 by nearby party revelers - many headlights flashing in our bedroom window.
happykate
January 5, 2013 Day 5 I haven't been checking in....there are lots of people on here and I feel like I have lots of support. I have been eating cleanly every day and have started to feel really good again. I am keeping a food journal - as I usually do, it keeps me on track. I am enjoying the Whole30 daily email each morning.
happykate
I made almond crackers/wafers for my priest to bless and give me for communion tomorrow morning and the next few Sundays. One of the things I dislike about the Whole30 in my past two times was no communion. I already forgo the wine in communion because it irritates my throat, I really didn't want to forgo the whole spiritual process. Recipe from Elana's Pantry and modified by me to be as plain as possible. 1 egg, 1T olive oil, .5 teaspoon salt, 1.75 cups blanced almond flour. baked at 350 F. for 13 minutes
