Brian Williams
http://coconutsecret.com/aminos2.html It looks safe from the ingredients, but thought I'd check as I'm not sure if the "sap" from the tree is okay. Thanks, Brian

Moderators Tom Denham Posted May 26, 2012 Moderators Share Posted May 26, 2012 Coconut aminos are Whole30-compliant and good. I splash some into a variety of stir-fries to add depth of flavor.
kcavicchio
I've tried a couple recipes (meatloaf, meatballs) that called for Coconut Aminos, and have used them to rave reviews; they seem to take the place of numerous ingredients I've used in the past that are a no-no now: liquid smoke, ketchup (ugh), etc. They remind me of soy sauce without any of the nasty stuff. Tom, I'll definitely try them in stir-fries now, too!
Vickizee
Whole foods has stopped carrying coconut aminos and if I buy it thru amazon the shipping costs as much as the product. Anyone have another source? Thanks! (I'm guessing liquid aminos are a no-no)
hobbitgirl
Really? Are Braggs Liquid Aminos out?? MER?

Vickizee
I thought liquid aminos were a no go because they are from soy. I found out that Vitamin Shoppe carries the coconut aminos!
habitualpurpose
Ooooh...when did they stop carrying them? I bought some at WF a couple weeks ago. I see you are in California. If you happen to be in the Bay Area, Andronico's carries them.
Meg Hamilton
How long does a bottle usually last? I'm torn because I don't want to waste it if it goes bad within "x" amount of time.
habitualpurpose
I can't keep mine around long enough for it to go bad--I use it soooo regularly.
Adagio
No worries. I talked to the lady at Coconut Secret, and she said that they've re-packaged the product (thank goodness!) and that they should be hitting store shelves (Including Whole Foods) by the end of July. They usually have a 2+ year shelf life.
Meg Hamilton
Thanks Nina & Adagio!! Some of my FB primal friends said that their bottle goes bad quickly! I will pick up some tonight at Whole Foods, or just order online if they don't have any.
habitualpurpose
I checked Whole Foods near me last night and they didn't have any in stock. I suppose I'll have to wait until the end of July to restock...sigh.
TheRealAndra
Both of my local WF were out, as well. They are on order and expected to be back in stock. Hooray! I miss my Worcestershire sauce and need an approved sub.

Meg Hamilton
I went to WF last night and they didn't carry coconut aminos, I talked with an employee and she said that numerous other people had been asking about them. She was going to talk with the grocery manager to get them in stock.
Sparkle
My Whole Foods has a big empty spot where they are supposed to be stocked. The 'guy' told me that they haven't been able to stock them for 3 months. Then on a podcast about coconut oil I heard that due to El Nino?? La Nina?? (one of those) ... coconuts are in short supply right now. I wonder if it's related.
Adagio
The company owner said that they should be back in stock in a different bottle by the end of the month. They are being repackaged.

Meg Hamilton
I found them yesterday!! There is a really cheap little health food store in a bad area of town--they also sell weightlifting equipment. I went to just browse around yesterday, I thought they only had supplements & strange vitamins & hippie-grains. But I found the Coconut Secret brand!!!! I am so excited to try these out! Adagio
I believe the recall was due to the packaging, not the product.
