gracie0806
Hello! My name is Bethany. My husband, David, and I started our first day of Whole30 today. David has had Crohn's disease for the last 13 years and has been on a medication called Remicade for the majority of that time. While this medicine has helped him to live an active and functional life, we have concerns about staying on it forever, and we want to try other methods of getting well. David has never attempted any form of diet to help his Crohn's (and his doctor claims there is no specific dietary approach - and anyone who tells him otherwise "is just trying to sell books". how frustrating). David has typically eaten whatever he feels like (including McDonalds and Bdubs and lots of sweets), although his appetite is often poor compared to other people our age. Along with experiencing common Crohn's symptoms, he also frequently lacks energy, especially lately for some reason. I, being a nurse, am definitely not against medications, but I am convinced there are other things we could be doing to help David's health, especially after reading ISWF! I am joining him on this Whole30, hoping to see increased energy and health benefits for myself, as well. I realize this might take longer for David to see improvement, but I'm hoping we can stick with it long enough to get to that point! If any of you have Crohn's or know someone who does, please let me know if you have specific tips or encouragement for our Whole30 journey! I am excited and also nervous at the thought of planning out and preparing each and every meal, but I think we can do it! Thank you and happy new year! Acer75
I think you will both see some great improvements by making these changes to your diets. My husband and I both have had issue with stomach related problems . We changed our diet several years ago to get rid of grains and sugars. It really helped us. There are tons of great resources available for meal planning. I think that is always the hardest adjustment to make with eating this way from the conventional way. You can't just run and grab what is convenient, unless you planned ahead and have something ready. Good luck to you both.
