Spices?

Recommended Posts

This may be a dumb question.. but I can't seem to find the answer on any forum..

Spices that are called for in recipes, such as "dried dill" or "garlic powder," are they compliant? I can't seem to find the ingredients on the bottle.. but I assume something like dill is just dill. Or do they add things to that?

To be safe, I've been avoiding them. But I'm looking to make a salmon cake recipe and I'd imagine the spices make a difference. Thanks!

Yes, spices are compliant, in general. Do check for an ingredients list, but often, single spices won't have a list, because all that's in them is that spice -- so cinnamon may not have an ingredient label, because it's generally not mixed with other stuff, it's just cinnamon. A few things -- like onion powder or garlic powder and probably others -- will have stuff in them to help keep the from clumping, like silicon dioxide, which is fine. Spice blends can get tricky -- some are compliant, some have sugar in them.
