AmyLK
I brew my own water kefir for health reasons, because it is fun, and because I like drinking it. The water kefir grains require sugar to grow, and they consume most of the sugar before the kefir is finished fermenting. That said, I am sure that there is likely some sugar that is not consumed by the kefir grains. My gut instinct is telling me that the water kefir is acceptable since kombucha is acceptable and it also requires sugar to feed the mother for the fermentation process. I just wanted to check in to find out what you think. I definitely do not want to interfere with my body's resetting process!
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted June 2, 2018 Moderators Share Posted June 2, 2018 Water kefir is fine as long as like with Kombucha you don't add sugar after the first ferment.
AmyLK
SugarcubeOD, than you for the feedback! I just add fruit for flavoring for my 2nd round of fermentation! I'm glad to hear that I can have it!
