Trouble falling asleep

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I'm on day 5 of W30 and loving it. The one thing that's bothering me is I'm having a really hard time getting and staying asleep. I'm having my last meal several hours before bed and I'm going about my routine the way I always have which includes reading my Kindle with the nightshade screen dim on which has always helped me fall asleep. But now I'm restless for a long time and it takes an even longer time to STAY asleep.

That being said, insomnia and restless sleep are two issues I've grappled with for most of life. Runs in the family :( But I've never had THIS much trouble.

Is this, perhaps, that thing where issues get worse on W30 before they get better? I also wonder if it's because I can no longer drink Yogi Bedtime Tea (another mainstay of my bedtime routine) because it has stevia in it.

Anyway, would love to know if anyone else had sleep issues in the early days.

Thanks!

Sleep issues may get better. A few things that might help  -- first, have you replaced your nightly tea with another tea, so you continue the habit? Any caffeine-free tea might work, but there are other brands that make tea for relaxation or sleeping -- this one appears to be compliant, based on what's online, though you should obviously read the box and double check if you do purchase it:  https://www.traditionalmedicinals.com/products/nighty-night-valerian/. I'm sure other brands are available too, you might just need to go to the store and look. If you have a local health food store, that might be a place to look, I know the one near me carries quite a few teas meant to help with various issues. There's probably something at your local grocery store too, you'd just have to read labels and see if they're compliant.

Another thing you might try is having a serving of starchy vegetable with your last meal of the day. That helps some people. There are also these glasses that are supposed to help further block blue light: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003OBZ64M?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creativeASIN=B003OBZ64M&linkCode=xm2&tag=f05f-20 (I do not know how much difference they make, but I know when Michelle Tam of Nom Nom Paleo used them when she was working night shift and talked about it here:  https://nomnompaleo.com/post/55156756199/surviving-the-night-shift)
