Where can I get...

Recommended Posts

I'm just coming to the end of day 2 and so far so good but I really want to try an omelette with sundried tomatoes and cannot find compliant ones anywhere (UK) does anyone have any ideas? All the ones I've seen have an acidity regulator in them.

Also, olives, they all have a ferrous oxide (colour preservative) in them. Can I eat these or should I hunt a bit more?

Many thanks in advance

Jenni

Asda sell Merchant Gourmet Slow Roasted Tomatoes, ready to eat. They're in a packet and contain only tomatoes. no other ingredients. M&S sell a jar of semi dried cherry tomatoes in extra virgin olive oil which contain cherry tomatoes, EVOO, garlic, sea salt, basil, oregano and citric acid (which is ok). Hope this helps

Thanks Kirsteen, I went along to Marks earlier and found some of the sundried tomatoes.

You seem to be the UK oracle ;) so... where can i get compliant fish sauce and stock cubes from? It is unbelievable how many things have sugar in them! I have just done a Waitrose order and got loads of stuff but can't get these which I need for some meals I've got in mind.

Many thanks

Hi Jenni,

I found these to be the only compliant stock cube out there, you should be able to get them in health food shops.

Also I found recently in Tesco Knorr fresh puches and the beef one was compliant, and much cheaper than the M&S ones - their fresh pouches are ok asfair, but €4 a pop!

For fish sauce, try the Asian supermarkets and check all the diff brands, someone I knwo in Dublin found some that way...I sourced some from a supplier to restaraunts because they would add palm sugar in when cooking so it's not included in trade quality fish sauce.

I started a uk/ireland thread in the sourcing good food too btw.

Fish sauce :) Derval can tell you, this was the bane of my life. I still haven't found compliant fish sauce anywhere here :(. As Derval said that particular type of Marigold seem to be the only compliant stock cubes but I've never bought any as I've more or less stopped using stock cubes and just use bone broth. I also found this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Organic-Vegetable-Bouillon-Large-180g/dp/B004L4SXF0/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1357239399&sr=8-3-fkmr1

at Amazon which looks ok but isn't cheap with postage. However Steenberg's own site http://www.steenbergs.co.uk/ gives free delivery on orders over £19.99 so would be worth it if you're getting several things. Good luck
