The Whole . . . er . . . 50

Since it has been a while, I thought I would wander back in here with a new introductory post. So hi . . .my name is Dan and when I get stressed I eat like unmitigated crap to feel better for 5 minutes and terrible for about an hour.

I put this out there, because this will be my third Whole30 (totally successful on the first 2) and I want the newbies to understand that even those of us that have been successful with this can fall off the wagon. Sometimes the wagon even backs up over you and drops donuts and Taco Bell. At these points in time we can do two things: 1)hate ourselves so completely for this relatively minor setback that we give up on the whole thing or 2)understand that life is a journey and since we ain't dead there is no time like today to re-introduce the changes we made that had such a positive impact on us.

Personally, I am going with door number 2 any day of the week and twice on Sunday. So here I am having started another Whole30 and decided to kick it up a notch to make up for the awful 4th quarter I just had food wise. On February 19th, I will be 35 years old and I have a goal to be in the best health I have been in since I was a senior wrestler in high school. In fact, better health because I ate like holy hell to make weight in high school and I can put much better, and more, fuel in the machine. So I have decided to stick with a strict Whole30 routine until the Friday after my birthday and really give myself a chance to reset on junk food, dark chocolate, and wine (my archnemesises . . . nemesi . . . my enemies). That is 50 days from today and I am actually excited about the challenge and restarting myself on the path of food righteousness.

This gave me a good chuckle. And as a newbie, I appreciate the perspective!
