Jae98789
Vegetable fed meat? I know grass fed is ideal, but is vegetable fed a good alternative or does it also contain corn? Examples: I am just starting out Whole30 and bought Pine Manor Farms Chicken at Whole Foods. Its says it has No hormones, antibiotics, growth stimulants, animal by-product, raised in free to roam barns and the chicken was fed a vegetarian diet in compliance with Non-GMO standard. It does not say organic on package. Another example is a 365 brand turkey breast which is cage free, no antibiotics, no nitrates and is fed an all vegetarian diet, 99% lean. Where can I find a list of the best meat brands if I want to be the most Whole30 compliant!
laura_juggles
If they're fed corn or soy, that's fine. You can still eat the meat.
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted July 23, 2018 Moderators Share Posted July 23, 2018 Any meat that doesn't actually contain non-compliant ingredients, which would be listed in an ingredients list, is fine for Whole30. There are some downloads here about making the best choices at the grocery store: https://whole30.com/2014/06/really-start-whole30/ If your budget allows for it and you are interested, the brands that are whole30 approved (https://whole30.com/whole30-approved/ ) will have grassfed beef and other best-choice options, but again, any meat that doesn't have non compliant ingredients added is fine, so do the best that you can with the budget you have and don't worry about it.
