Chicory root compliant?

Hi. I'm confused why chicory root is approved (based on several forums) when it's a sweetener. On a simple google search it doesn't appear to be, but when you actually research the product it is. One product that comes to mind is "just like sugar", when you look that up and look at the ingredients, the ONLY ingredient that would be the sweetener is chicory root. I believe this needs to be looked into and re-evaluated. Or please let me know if I'm missing something! Thanks!

If it's being processed into a sweetner or concentrated for the purpose of acting as a sweetening product, then yes, you would not use that sweetening product.  If it's just an ingredient in tea for example, it would be fine.  Consider dates.  You can eat a date.  You cannot eat date syrup which is just dates and water concentrated into a sweetener.  Make sense?
