Aceinig
Is it normal to not be able to sleep? Last few nights I have woken up at 4am. I’m not waking up hungry or anything like that, I’m just awake. And I can’t fall back to sleep.
Lexy
I have had the same problem! I have never had issues with sleep, but I am on my first round of Whole30 Day 6 and have yet to sleep fully through the night (typically waking up around 2 or 3 am). I would love to know the cause of this, if it's related to the diet or not?
smazze
Me too! I keep reading about how important sleep is, but I just can't sleep through the night. Waking up around 3am the last few nights and then spending the next couple hours restlessly struggling to fall back to sleep. Not tired during the day though, could this be the start of the up swing in energy?!
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted January 7, 2019 Moderators Share Posted January 7, 2019 There are some tips here for improving sleep: http://whole9life.com/2015/04/mental-health-sleep-1/ Any changes or stresses in your life can affect sleep. It may be that these issues will work themselves out over time, although the tips I linked to above could help if you're not already doing them. There is a two-part article that talks more about supplements that may help here as well: https://whole30.com/2017/10/whole30-sleep-1/ and https://whole30.com/2017/10/whole30-sleep-trouble/
BookJockey
I've been having trouble sleeping as well, but I'm no stranger to sleep issues. Plus, I was under a lot of stress just before the holidays, got super sick, relied on cough medicines to help me sleep and get better the last week of the year, really, and I know my body too is going through a bit of a withdrawal there. So I can't say if the Whole30 is affecting it or not, but I know it's tough. To make matters worse, sleepiness often makes me hungrier, making ignoring my sugar demons that much harder!
