I'm a classic for reactions and symptoms that just make no sense - I'm allergic to an ingredient they put in "non-allergenic" cosmetics to replace a common allergen, for goodness sake

OMG Schrod (can I call you Schrod?) - we are sisters man. Me tooooo - "well" says my doctor, "it can't be ________ (insert weird thing here) - you don't have the right symptoms but let's try you on that medication anyway." and it works. I have atypical everything and am allergic to the weirdest things - benign aloe vera for example. I get hives taking a shower! Seriously weird body.

Day 31, still clearing out my system I think. I'm going to be curious to see how I feel in 10 more days when jetlag is done and I've 10 more days of W30 under my belt.

Ya - Hubs had breakouts too - hang in there - his is almost cleared up.

Schrod is good!! Glad to hear I'm not alone on the contrary body! It's so annoying.

When do you fly out??

Breakfast today: omelette with leftover flank steak, capsicum, mushrooms and a side of grilled asparagus.

Dinner is every the mystery!

That is my kind of breakfast! I LOVE eggs - I could eat them all day everyday.  And breakfast should be ana amazing array of awesomeness - I like how you cook Schrod.

Flying out starts tomorrow. I'll be spending Monday in Vancouver - beautiful city - before heading to Adelaide via Aukland Monday night. Have NO IDEA what I'm going to eat on the plane - and I fly biz class - free deliciousness (AND wine), 95% of it non-compliant. I guess I will take my sleeping pill, crawl into my pod and food dream my way across the Pacific after gnawing on a Larabar and some almonds. Maybe  I'll be able to stock up on some stuff after I get through security - gotta think I'll be able to find a boiled egg somewhere!

Been feeling a bit flat the last 2 days, a bit headachey, and a bit achey all over. More likely to be the exercising that I'm not used to than the W30, because I've been eating really well and within the meal templates (largely) and no different to how I have been for the last 20 days.

20 down, 10 to go! One more weekend, I thought they would be harder than they are...

Day 21!

Another weekend successfully navigated, and a blessedly clear week free of distractions coming up. Hubster is out both Thursday and Friday nights, so I might have something I wouldn't usually make for him, a spaghetti squash dish, or some salmon.

Today's food:

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs with The Goods Spicy Kraut

Lunch: Coleslaw with leftover roast pork and chimmichurri mayonnaise

Dinner: Steak with roasted veg medley (sweet potato, carrot, parsnip, broccoli, asparagus) tossed with baby spinach and dressing

Day 22. Where is my tiger blood?? I'm tired, I'm achey, I don't want to exercise, I don't want to eat, I slept badly last night... I don't think it's W30 related but WAHHHH. I want to feel amazing.

I am hitting that point I always tend to hit on an eating plan where I'm following it to the T, and totally sticking with it, and my horrid little subconscious starts undermining me and trying to convince me it's not working or not worth it, or I'm not doing it right, and I may as well just quit. I don't have any food boredom, I'm still making yummy interesting things, and I'm not even craving anything non-compliant, my brain's just being a jerk, which seems to be its default setting a lot of the time.

But I have no intention of giving it away, I have the rest of the week planned and I haven't been struggling on weekends, so there's no reason to think I won't make it all the way

Day 31 for me is Valentines Day and I'm tossing up reintro-ing a nice cheese platter (no crackers!) or a glass of wine. The wine I hesitate on because it's a work night, and if it gives me an unreasonable hangover, I don't want that at work. Plus, I've not really been missing the wine, and I'm not sure I want to add it back right away...

Anyway, today's food:

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs with The Goods Spicy Kraut

Lunch: Coleslaw with leftover roast pork and chimmichurri mayonnaise

Dinner: White fish with an orange and lemon sauce, with stir fried veggies.

Scratch that, Hubster is keen to try coconut crusted fish, so that's what we're having :)

SO, the coconut crusted fish ( fish spread with a thin layer of mayo and 'crumbed' in coconut  flour and shredded coconut) was... not good. We both scraped the coconut off and just ate the fish. All good, though! There had to be one adventurous recipe I tried this round that I didn't like, right??

I'm allergic to non-allergenic makeup and face cleansing wipes! I don't know what it is, but it makes my face go red, hot, and puffy! Actually most cleansers that aren't all natural do that to my face. It's so hard to find something that actually works for my skin and doesn't turn me into a burning tomato head.

I had a couple of days in the past month where something on my scarves made me break out in hives. There was no sign of anything on them, no smell, no stains, but I was covered head to toe in hives after wearing them for 30 minutes.

Aren't bodies grand? LOL

Day 23!

I was very underprepared today, I didn't have a lunch sorted so I made do. I did have a thai green curry or 2 in the freezer which are compliant but I really don't like them, so I didn't grab them. I also have a lunch seminar where the provided food is sandwiches and sushi, but they're usually pretty average, so won't pose a challenge.

Food:

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs with The Goods Spicy Kraut

Lunch: Coleslaw with a tine of tuna in oil (well drained) and chimmichurri mayonnaise

Dinner: something fast, I won't be home until 8 - probably pork chops with sauteed Chinese broccoli, carrots and asparagus in Cocomino Teriyaki and

So last night with dinner I had sauteed asparagus with duck bacon - omg. So amazing. My husband is also in love with the duck bacon, so I'm going to put some more on to cure this weekend.

Day 24 here! Time flies. Hubs is out tonight, so I only have to feed myself.

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs with The Goods Spicy Kraut

Lunch: Chicken green thai curry (made it a few weeks ago and froze it, I actually don't really like it - the curry paste was really flavourless - but I hate waste and didn't have anything else prepped)

Dinner: Chilli Lime Prawns on cauli/brocc rice with sauteed chinese broccoli

Heh, hubster decided he'd rather eat dinner with me when he gets home, so chilli prawns will be tomorrow when he's definitely out til late. I'm thinking I might make some crispy skinned baked chicken tonight with some roasted veggies.

currently eating my green thai curry and having anxiety that it might not be compliant, while knowing damn well it is, because I made it the week I was supposed to start but didn't, and then froze it. My brain is dumb.

In other news, a couple of weeks in the freezer appears to have improved it slightly.

You're just a week out! Hurrah! Your meals always sound so good. I'm jealous of your culinary skills

Aw, thanks!! I often think I'm in the wrong business, I'd love to make food for a living.

I do still have 9 days to do, thanks to the days 1-4 sulfite debarcle, but I'm kicking along really well so it doesn't seem to be too much of a struggle! I did make plans for next weekend, thinking I'd be on alcohol reintro, but I won't be and that's ok. I'll make all the complaint nibbles I was going to (hot wings, lamb meatballs with garlic tahini dressing, crispy pork belly bites, maybe some duck breast) and just forego the alcohol. I'm not really missing it anyway.

Day 25's food:

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs with The Goods Spicy Kraut

Lunch: Chicken green thai curry

Dinner: Chilli Lime Prawns on cauli/brocc rice with sauteed boc choy

Ended up having calamari and prawns with the cauli/brocc rice, it was supremely average. That didn't stop me from picking out all the calamari over the course of the evening, the first time in 25 days that I've eaten outside actual meals.

I think I only did it because it was there and calamari makes terrible leftovers, so I either ate it, or it went in the bin, which was a waste.

All compliant though, so eh!

Ah I forgot about that. 9 days isn't bad either! May the tiger blood be with you!

Day 27:

Brunch: Cleavers paleo beef sausages with saurkraut, roasted garlic mushrooms, and a fried egg.

Dinner: Flank steak, baked sweet potato with ghee, sauteed asparagus and broccoli.

PS - Cleavers sausages are awful I don't know how they mess up beef and spices so badly. They're so gross, I covered 1 in mustard and fed the other to the dog. Even he wasn't sure he wanted it.

Day 28! 4 weeks! Darn those pesky sulphites, I'd be planning for reintro right now, but alas, I have a week to go.

Because I'm off to my specialist this morning, I was taking stock about what has, and hasn't happened since I went W30.

The big caveat here, though - the main reason I did W30 was to establish a baseline as to which of my symptoms are diet and lifestyle related, and which are caused by my health issues. So, I never expected W30 to fix me and make me feel amazing, because diet alone cannot and will not fix all my issues, and I know that.

So, with that in mind:

Has happened:

Chronic Vertigo: My chronic vertigo is gone. First time in coming up on 2 years that it's just never there. I've had periods where it lessened, but for it to have been gone for weeks is amazing.

IBS: I'm regular! That's a total novelty for me!

Bloating: I haven't had uncomfortable tummy bloat since a few days after I started

Heartburn/reflux: I haven't taken antacids since I started W30. I still get a little bit of heatburn but it goes away on its own and I haven't had to take anything for it.

Sleep: I go to sleep, I stay asleep. I love it.

Has not happened:

Tiger Blood: I feel good. But not amazing, just normally good. I'm still more tired than most people would be during the day and need more sleep. I don't have epic mental clarity.

Aches and joint pain: Still there, but I think that has a lot to do with still being significantly overweight.

Skin: I hoped my skin would be better, I still have psoriasis on my scalp and my face is still dry, red and a bit rashy. But, that just means it's not a food thing, and that's ok.

I think that's about it off the top of my head, and all around I'm considering this a great success.

So, Day 28:

Breakfast: 1 poached egg with The Goods Spicy Kraut

Lunch: Roasted veggie medley with baby spinach and slow cooked beef brisket

Dinner: Pork chops with pistachio dukkah, grilled sweet potato, asparagus and mixed leaf, radish and cucumber salad with lemon tahini dressing

Update: Saw my Neuro this morning, and he was very happy that my vertigo had cleared and was totally open to it being diet related (so many specialists won't conceded that some things aren't fixed by medicine!)
