Starting January 27th . Anyone else want to start an accountability team

Recommended Posts

I am new to Whole30 just learned about it this week, I have been doing some research and plan to start on Sunday the 27th.  In the past I have done best with people I am accountable with.  I have had some stomach issues, skin issues, and want to see if the food I am putting into my system has to do with it.  I will be honest it is going to kill me to give up sugar.  I have a sweet tooth.

Jenwestphal, I am starting today, too!!!

I am also concerned about giving up sugar.  I also eat a lot of dairy, specifically cheese!

I am excited and very nervous, but my meals are planned.  I have a lot of food prep to do today to get ready for the week.

JANUARY 27TH 2019 IS THE DAY I'M GOING TO CHANGE MY LIFE!!!

I am in the same boat as a lot of Newbies above!  I can put away a box (Theater size) of Dots in minutes.  And usually always follow with another one!

What I am having issues with what is defined amounts of fruits and foods that is allowed on Whole30!  I don't get the handful, the palm, size of your thumb.  :(  I need specific and defined amounts of everything I can have!!  I can see myself eating 3 pears in a sitting if that is allowed, which also goes for practically ANY FRUIT OR VEGGIE!

Does anyone one know where I can get actual imperial measurements of allowed foods???

Thank you in advance,

Star

We can't really say how big you palm or your fist is, so we can't tell you how much to eat.

Hold your hand out in front of you and make a fist, and look at it. Is your fist the size of one pear? Three pears? If you're not sure, go get a pear, set it next to your fist, and look at it. I suspect that your closed fist is not the same size as three pears, unless you're the size of Andre the Giant. Or if you've found some tiny little mini pears. It is probably about the size of one average size pear. It's probably not exactly the same size, but roughly that size. We don't need you to carve the pear down to exactly the right size or anything,  just a rough estimate is fine. Have a serving or two of fruit each day if you want to -- you never have to have fruit if you don't want it -- and when you have fruit have it with a meal, not on its own.

For the rest of the template, same idea -- estimate based on the size of your hand, don't worry if sometimes it's a little more or a little less. Have lots of vegetables, have a serving of protein at least the length, width, and height of the palm of your hand (or if eggs are your only protein in a meal, have as many whole eggs as you can hold in one hand, probably 3-4), and then add a serving or two of fat from those listed on the template, generally in addition to oil you cook in. You'll know you're getting everything about right if you can go 4-5 hours between meals pretty easily.

Hi jenwestphal, I'm starting tomorrow, but can I join you? I need accountability, too! It's going to be doing without bread that will be my challenge!

How has your first day been going?

Today has gnoe well.  My coffee is the biggest challenge so far and veggies for breakfast.  I think once I get started I will be OK.  I am working on prepping things for the week.

I am on day 5 so a little behind but I am feeling great, I didn’t eat horrible to begin with so I think that has something to do with it, but I went to having complete lethargy and brain fog on day to crazy amounts of energy on day 4 and 5 (which is still very new). I’m well aware tomorrow could be back to brain fog, but I’m taking what I can get. I’m getting a little burnt out when preparing food but I find that after I make it, eat it and feel great im encouraged again. Keep at it everyone!!
