Starting March 6 for Lent

I am interested in a stevia reaction because I know aspartame messes me up.  It wasn’t the processed stevia that resembles granulated sugar.  It was stevia leaf in a tea bag with spearmint and chamomile.

Regarding peeking at the scale at day 31 - I was also thinking that would be ok.  I’m on Day 29 and right now, I don’t want to peek.  I’m feeling some NSV and want to keep going for the rest of Lent and now I’m concerned that if I do peek on Day 31 I’ll be disappointed with the number that pops up.

So the scale has been put up on a high closet shelf with the batteries removed.  There it shall remain.  Maybe I’ll save the AAA batteries for my Easter basket.

What kinds of oils and fats? Generally you'd reintroduce them based on what they're made from -- so peanut or soybean oil with legumes (unless you're separating legumes out more, some people do peanuts alone or soy alone, just to see if they react any differently to those in particular). Corn oil or rice bran on non-gluten grain day.

Perfect thank you! So, as I suspected from the horrible effects on the body, avoid vegitable and canola oil. I also have no interest in ever eating again the synthesized fake sugars.

Today is really the first day that I miss my coffee.  I AM DRAGGING!  I made it to the gym this morning, but my workout wasn't as strong as it could be.  My man is being attacked by the pollen this year and hasn't been getting any sleep for all the coughing.  Needless to say that means I'm not getting any sleep either.

Tonight will definitely be leftovers and early to bed.

Hey @pearlgirl2017 why are you missing coffee? Did you eliminate coffee? When I did my first W30 I began drinking black coffee no sugar and I have never gone back. I love my black coffee, my espressos and my turkish coffee. The taste is so much better without the milk and sugar. Like you my workouts have not been as strong as they could be. Usually by this time in the W30 I am feeling some tiger blood, but this time around all I feel is fatigue. Get some rest.

Tomorrow is day 30 for me and also the last day. I am not doing the whole Lent. I am so excited to have yoghurt. That is truly the only thing I really miss. Yoghurt and cheese.

Congratulations on your Day 30!  Well done, you.  I’m also on Day 30, but I’m going to keep going.

Yes, I’m at tiger blood.  Problem is, I’m also experiencing awful insomnia.  That means tiger blood at 4am when I was folding laundry and cleaning the kitchen.  I’ve been looking into this insomnia issue, and apparently it is common in Whole30.  I never read about that before.  I heard it was all wonderful deep restorative sleep.  There is a theory about the brain interpreting starvation messages from the body and kicking in survival mode to stay up and graze/hunt.  I also thought I might be overdoing exercise on the treadmill, so I’m cutting back to every other day.

NSVs - I’ve noticed brushing my teeth that my gums are not as tender, and my husband told me I’m looking slimmer.

I feel your pain, so tired and not drinking alcohol to numb the impact is a struggle for me. Early to bed for me too and be gentle on ourselves is the ticket!

Made Tikka Masala for dinner last night, and at bedtime my chin was breaking out.  Not my chin itself but just to the right side under my mouth.  Big painful bumps.  Facialists refer to this as the part of the face sensitive to the colon.  So, coconut milk a problem?  Or, maybe it was the Serrano peppers,  maybe the garam masala.  Something to investigate.

Pearlgirl2017 about 15 years ago I had a sudden arm pit rash and my Dr. Suggested I stop using deodorant all together. My hormone changes were no longer tolerating the ingredients. Rash cleared right up and I haven't used it since. You might give that a try next.

That seems to have cleared it up.  I don't know about going all summer without any deodorant though.  I'll play around with different brands, or find a recipe for "pit paste" made with coconut oil.

Yay! Day 31! Today was rough for me as I'm doing the slow roll reintro. I was unable to get myself a good breakfast and I worked my BUTT off for 2 hours last night training for wrestling and then played volleyball for another 2 hours afterward. I am taking a break for my body today and not exercising. I will be doing stretches though for sure.

I still haven't decided what or how to introduce the next thing...

Thank you ladies for great convo! Good luck with your continuing on for lent. You got it!

Any takers for starting a reintroduction group? What about doing it Easter Monday or sometime between now and then so we capture true full lent and the folks hitting their whole 30 but doing a slow roll reintroduction.

You'd have to start that group in the Whole30 Reintroduction forum, but sure.  I personally don't want to think about reintroduction right now, not with another 2 weeks to go.  Congratulations to the ladies (and their families) who have completed their 30 days, but I still have a few miles to go yet.

@MJ of Cayman I must be envious of you and your man's comment that you look slimmer.  I had a dream last night that I put on my jeans and they were so big I thought I must have put on his pair by mistake.  When he didn't say anything encouraging I took them off and threw them at his head!  Wishful thinking for sure.

Ok so here is a short summary for this round of W30. Since it was my 4th time I dived in thinking it was going to be a piece of cake "I've done this three times before so no problem, right?" Wrong. It was a challenge. Every time is different because my circumstances are different. This time around my greatest challenge was food boredom and lack of time to enjoy the cooking process (I usually love to cook and prep but this time I had so much going on in my life besides W30 that it was just really really hard to stay motivated). I am also no longer struggling with weight and I do not have any serious food related health issues so doing the W30 is an annual detox and reset for me - it is harder to stay motivated when there are no external factors to push you. I did lose 7.5 pounds this time around. I feel that my body is leaner. My weight is usually between 132 and 138 pounds. Not much tiger blood this time around, so I was a little disappointed.

NSVs - started sleeping better the last week of W30, some workouts were let difficult, hair looks better and nails growing faster, clothes fit better and I feel better in my own body.

Disappointments - no tiger blood, fatigue still present.

Good luck ladies. I will be signing of but I do wish all of you to achieve your goals, whatever they may be. The most important one is to reclaim our health through healthier eating habits. Hugs.

Let do it Easter Monday! I will start it in reintroduction group Holy Saturday so it's ready to go Easter Monday. Who will join me?

This whole 30 I am experiencing acne all over my lower and mid checks. Any thoughts.

what are your most used kitchen gadgets?

I've used my chef and paring knives, cutting board, Nutri Ninja blender, 4 and 6 qt. dutch ovens and crock-pots, a meat thermometer and a lemon press.
