katiesiegel14
I stumbled upon this recipe. It looks super yummy, but I am wondering if it truly whole30, without crossing the line of "baking/recreating".... thoughts? 1 Plantain (yellow or yellow/brown works best) 1/4 to 1/3 cup Avocado Oil (or frying oil of choice) 1 Tablespoon Tapioca Starch/Flour Sea Salt
Administrators ladyshanny Posted April 10, 2019 Administrators Share Posted April 10, 2019 Are you blending these into a batter/paste and then cookign them like pancakes? Tostones are sliced plantain that are pan fried, smashed and then panfried again. These are fine, but turning the plantain into a batter would be walking a very fine line. katiesiegel14
It seems like the instructions have me blending it and then baking it. So I am guessing it would qualify as a pancake type food? But I could cook, smash, and cook them again? Thank you for your help!

laura_juggles
Cook, smash, cook is also my favorite method for those little baby potatoes. I'm #lazy so I do the first cook in the microwave. Then smash, then toss in olive oil and spices, then pan fry so they're a little crispy.
hollysmokes
That sounds so good! I make tostones occasionally; I don't know why I haven't thought about using new potatoes or about cooking them in the microwave. Thanks @laura_juggles; my husband is going to be thrilled!
