I just started yesterday as well! I did a similar challenge last fall, though it was structured a little differently. I did get used to coconut milk in my coffee at that time, so that's not a huge problem. After that challenge ended in mid-November, there was a gradual decline in my diet until I had reverted back to pretty much all of my old habits. I knew I had to do something, especially after the holidays, and this seemed like a good way to kick start my diet back to where it should be.

Yesterday went fine, today I am really tired and sluggish. Coconut chips & almonds for snacks through the day (I keep a small baggie of measured with me at work for a go-to so I don't go-to chocolate or other crap people bring in). I cooked a bunch of chicken thighs on Sunday and also green beans, carrots, and sweet potatoes. I need to pick up some more veggies tonight and hopefully do something a little more interesting for food next week. I just wanted to get going so I did easy this week!

Overall it seems natural to go back to eating this way and being very mindful of everything I put in my body. I like having everything planned out and ready to go. I've been drinking a ton of tea and so far my biggest craving is sweet potatoes...things could be worse!

Today is Day Two for me as well, and I am also feeling a wee bit tired and sluggish. A bit of brain fog too.

Brain fog is the perfect description for what I'm feeling. I thought I had a cold this morning, but as the morning went on I started to suspect the fuzzy head feeling wasn't so much a cold.

I'm still riding on the high of trying all sorts of new recipes. Trying to find the balance between too much and not enough food in the fridge.

I am trying a bunch of new recipes now too. I tend to be a pretty basic cook, and I am finding it to be a new and fun experience trying some things out.

The other thing I am noticing today is that my legs are more tired and achy than normal, after my workout.

Just also popping in to add my 2 cents. I am on my 4th Whole 30..maybe my 5th. I rarely off road when I finish mine so it's all a blur. I am doing a W100 this time. About the obsessing over what to eat. It gets SO much easier. I have my go to items so I keep those on hand. Then I make a double batch of at least 2 approved recipes that I haven't tried. Tom's and Johnny's blogs are great for that. I do a cookathon to make sure I have a lot of steamed veggies and slow cooker spaghetti squash on hand. Thanks to Johnny, I will also roast up a bunch of root veggies. Then the veggie part is ready to toss into a pan with ghee and coconut aminos. So easy. Just try to get really familiar with the can and cannot haves and try not to tweak the plan if you want maximum benefit. Like anything, perfection may not happen immediately or ever for some, but with each W30, it gets better and easier. :)

How do you cook spaghetti squash in the slow cooker? This sounds like something I would like to try.

I'm really proud of myself for resisting temptation. My knitting group meets at a Panera bread on tuesdays, and usually we all get dinner there too. There is a Chipotle right next door, and after clearing it with the Panera manager, I bought a bottle of water at Panera and then got a whole 30 compliant dinner from Chipotle. I also stopped at starbucks for a little while this afternoon (I was out and about and killing time) and I got a hot tea and didn't sweeten it, instead of my usual vanilla latte.

I swear, of all the stuff that isn't allowed on whole 30, I think latte's and sushi are the only two things I'm really missing.
Super easy. It has to be on the small side so the lid shuts. Place in slow cooker and set it on high for 4 hours. I turn it once after around 2 hours so it cooks more evenly. Not even sure that is necessary. Then, I remove it, slice both ends off, cut in half lengthwise and let it cool until manageable.

Also, don't forget you can have sashimi. I do that all the time. <img src='http://forum.whole9life.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Thanks, that does sound really easy! Do you put water in, or just the squash?

Ugh..tried to add don't forget you can have sashimi, but the edit button on Tapatalk is wonky.

No water necessary. Because it's a big veggie, steam builds up inside the slow cooker.

I totally forgot about sashimi. I guess I could bring my own coconut aminos to the restaurant to use in place of soy sauce.

I'm also definitely going to slow cook a spaghetti squash soon. Thanks again!

Oh yes. I take my aminos with me in an empty spice jar. :)

I was extra tired this morning, too, and the weather isn't helping. Even English breakfast tea didn't help, and it usually makes me feel like my hair is standing on end. It got better after a few hours, though. I hope you all feel better in the next few days!

Maybe you need Lapsang Souchong. >^..^< Of course, you'd have to also like the smell of burning rubber tires in a spruce forest.

I hope everyone is doing well on the start of Day 3.

Day 3 is definitely taking a toll on me. Didn't want to get up this morning when the alarm went off and now, after being awake for almost 4 hours, I am still tired, groggy, and don't really feel like talking to anyone. I know this is all normal... just can't wait to have some energy!

Turns out I was a little too confident on Day 2. No major side effects, I was going to rock this. Woke up this morning and headed to crossfit. Lightheaded feeling while trying to do deadlifts and double unders was not good. I had to the the chump of my group and take a break for two rounds before starting back up again. My coach suggested making sure I have enough fat and calories. Looking back, it may indeed be the fat. Fat is my focus for today - because obviously my gym workout was a bust!

Oh Lord. Headache central. Its been nice not to feel bloated, but I really do not feel well. Boy, am I being punished. But since I did something like this last year (only with dairy) I know the withdraw takes a while, and it's about the sugar and the wine. I've been eating super well, and liking it, but just feeling lousy. Only pilates, no cardio since I started. There is a whole 30 site on Pinterest I like. So we are pushing on. Good for us!!!

I am feeling surprisingly awake today, considering I didn't get nearly enough sleep last night. Hopefully I can keep that going until CrossFit tonight! Cravings are minimal, but I know they'll hit sooner or later. Looking forward to cooking this weekend!

I am not counting 1/7 as day 1 since I cheated, but would like to stay with the group, if that's okay. But I did a successful day 1 yesterday.

Day 1 (1/8/2013)

Breakfast: scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, and home-made salsa

Lunch: grilled chicken breast, broccoli, black olives, and an apple

Dinner: steak and Portobello mushrooms with a Marsala glaze

Dessert: smoothie with coconut milk and strawberries

Beverages: three cups of Earl Grey tea, many glasses of water with lemon

I am not a big fruit person, so the smoothie was perfect.

Sleep: not been great, waking every 2 hours, but that could be alcohol-related from not drinking; in general feeling very fatigued

Headaches: constant

Digestion: much better, regular bowels 1x

I also wanted to report on my pseudo-day1:

Day 0.5 (1/7/2013)

Breakfast: burrito with eggs, hash browns, cheese, green chili

Lunch: salad with mixed kale and spinach, grilled chicken, hard boiled egg, avocado, cashews, craisins

Dinner: taco salad with mixed greens, ground beef, tomatoes, olives, and home-made mayo

Beverages: 3 Coke Zeros, 3 beers, water

Sleep: crappy, woke every 2 hours

Headaches: constant

Digestion: diarrhea after lunch, very gassy after dinner
