This is my 4th Whole30.  I did my first one a few years ago and stuck with it for about two years.  My sugar dragon mixed with menopause took a toll on me over the past six months (I gained weight and have achy joints again), and I'm finally ready to get back to eating healthy and feeling good!

I started prepping food here and there over the past week and have done a ton of cooking today. My husband is going keto, so not as strict as me, but he'll be eating clean which will be soooo helpful!

Did anyone else start today?

Me! Day 1 of round 3. Early last year, I did my first round to try and combat chronic vertigo which had defied any diagnosis or treatment and was getting to the point I was thinking of stopping full time work. Within 3 weeks of my first round, it was gone. I stayed mostly compliant and did another full round around May but then backslid badly at the rear of last year and now the vertigo is back, so so is W30!

I was going to prep on the weekend, but I was feeling crappy and so I did the minimum - made lunches and mayo, but hoping I'll feel better after a week on it and really knock off my food prep this coming weekend.

Day 2 underway here, doing fine! Finding myself obsessing over what I'm going to cook for dinner lol. I have realised I'm not going to be able to go a whole 30 days, due to a pre-booked and planned weekend away, but that's find, it's round 3 and I'm planning on making this more a lifestyle change, where things will arise, and so it's good practice for that.

Hi @SchrodingersCat, how bizarre that diet could effect vertigo! Have you any idea why that would be? Thank goodness you found a cure for it.

@stonehouse - what was your yoga challenge? I have only taken it up in the last few months but I am really enjoying it. I think it is doing me good both physically and emotionally.

I've been doing the Yoga with Adriene January challenge and it's been great. I do other yoga classes, but her videos are on the short side and include more meditation, so I think it's a good combination. I plan to continue with her February videos. If you're not familiar, check 'em out.

I know from personal experience doing Whole30s have helped with inflammation -- it's amazing how many positive effects it has on the body. I have tendinitis now, and I'm hoping this will help (in conjunction with the yoga).

Anyone planning on doing anything fun for the Super Bowl? I know there are lots of buffalo chicken recipes out there, so I might try one of those. Have a good day all!

Apparently the vertigo was a result of vestibular migraines. I've had traditional migraines all my life, often triggered by food intolerances, but somehow this morphed into vestibular migraines (often called silent migraines because they have random neurological symptoms but generally without pain). The diagnosis comes as a result of elimination rather than discovery - multiple neurologists, MRIs, ENT specialists, you name it - nothing could treat or explain it and I tried W30 as a last resort and lo and behold, it went away within 3 weeks. So the diagnosis is that it has to be food related!

Trouble is, the migraines and cumulative, meaning it's not a case of 'eat something, get a migraine' like with my traditional migraines. It takes weeks for me to get to full vertigo, and then it takes weeks for it to go away once I'm eliminating stuff, so it's REALLY hard to pinpoint the actual cause. At this point, I figure if a one off eating of the cause can't trigger it, then staying compliant 90% of the time permanently ought to fix the issue!
