Just finished Day 3! Yay!  Shaking a soda habit that started last year...

Drinking water w/ slice of orange for W30 + approved coconut water.

NOTES

***B/c of IBS/gallbladder issues, I am eating more frequent, smaller meals as suggested in the W30 book

** Important to take a PROBIOTIC daily to ward off digestive issues / changes (& imp.  to drink my orange water)

* I can't face eggs in the morning, so had an idea to have baked sweet potato for breakfast - so far working out well! :)

* I know smoothies are not encouraged, but I have just started doing them again & don't want to lose a healthy habit, plus it's a way to take Collagen,- imp. for my health.

DAY 1     3-16-20 / Monday

The first day was hard b/c no protein salad to fall back on or anything pre-prepared. Just winging it all day.

Breakfast - half Baked sweet potato & ghee 

Snack - half LARA bar (Lemon)

Lunch - Made W30 mayo & had tuna salad in Romaine lettuce leaf , Toasted almonds, & half a baked pear

Snack - Smoothie with coconut water, Collagen, apple, berries & spinach 

Dinner - Sauteed chicken breast / pan scraped w/ coconut milk, chives & garlic to make a sauce - DELICIOUS! + Mashed potatoes with ghee

Snack - half LARA bar 

A struggle to get thru the day -- what? No honeymoon phase first day? 

DAY 2

Breakfast - half Baked sweet potato & a compliant sausage pattie, mustard

Lunch - ZOE'S Kitchen - grilled chicken kabob , veggies, potato salad

Snack - Smoothie with coconut water, Collagen, apple, berries & spinach 

Dinner - smoked pulled pork, no sauce / dill pickles & pickled onion // passed on bbq sauce & salad w/ 1000 isle

Snack - grapes (red)

Started out day well & optimistic, but by lunch time, LOW, LOW ENERGY & had to go into town for an apt.  No fun!

By late afternoon, irritated b/c SLIM lady in front of me at checkout  had a cart loaded with carbohydrate items & snacks! 

B/c of virus - NO roast or Chicken left to buy! So bought small fz turkey to have for the weekend / as limiting trips to store for now

DAY 3

Breakfast - half Baked sweet potato & half a compliant sausage pattie 

Lunch - Boiled Shrimp made into salad w/ W30 mayo, lots of celery, black pepper, lemon juice & OLD BAY SEASONING - yummy + lettuce

Snack - Smoothie with coconut water, Collagen, fz peach, berries & spinach 

Dinner - Boiled Shrimp made into salad w/ W30 mayo, lots of celery, black pepper, lemon juice & OLD BAY SEASONING - yummy + lettuce

               TOSSED SALAD w/ tomato & approved TESSA Salad Dressing (cilantro lime Ranch)

Snack - half LARA bar (cherry)

Rested in the afternoon / took nap, then had a nice dinner

Full, Satisfied, happy & relaxed at bedtime

DAY 4 (already!) // 26 DAYS TO GO AFTER TODAY!

Breakfast - skipped / slept in

Lunch - HASHED BROWNS cooked in olive oil / salt, pepper

this kept me full all afternoon, till 5:30

Snack - Smoothie with coconut water, Collagen, apple, pineapple, nana & spinach / dash almond extract  // 5:30 pm
             / dab almond butter

Dinner -  Mexican Salad w/ shredded smoked beef over greens, avocado, tomato, lime juice, cilantro & Tessa dressing

Piddled upstairs all morning / 0 breakfast / 2 pm - downstairs /

Made Collagen SMOOTHIE - coconut water/spinach/berries/apple/ nana/ fz peach

full & satisfied

5pm - half orange

7:30 - HelloFresh delicious hamburger patty, onion, tomato, pickles, W30 mayo / on plan BACON
          OVEN ROASTED POTATO ROUNDS

Struggled from 10 to 12pm - truly wanted something lcomforting & yummy like Blueberry Cobbler while watching EMMA 

Snacked on fresh pineapple, orange, & 1/3 Lemon Larabar

Drank delicious Orange water - fresh orange slice squeezed into water glass

DAY 7 :) SUNDAY MARCH 22 

Roasting a turkey today - all that was left at Grocery dept was frozen turkeys! 

Drinking ORANGE WATER :)

Soothing morning /sleeping in on this social distancing weekend. 

Morning Light / Tiny leaves peeking from trees / Light rain this morning 

Late Breakfast / Brunch - half baked potato, ghee, splash of Pods Caramel Cream - yummy / 3 pieces on plan BACON :)

Full & Satisfied

I’d love to hear your opinion about doing this during quarantine! I am highly considering joining the worldwide Whole30 on April 13 but I have to say I am super nervous. My biggest two fears are (1) the grocery stores will not have exactly what I want and will throw me off plan and (2) I’ve had such high anxiety levels that adding a Whole30 might make a bad situation even more stressful. Do you have any input as far as your experience with these? It looks like you’ve been doing great!! You’ve knocked out the hardest part!!

Actually, it's been very helpful to do this during quarantine - much less temptation from eating out & being social!

We receive 2 to 3 meals/week from HelloFresh during this time.  I adapt the recipes to fit W30 & just save things like the rice packets for after W30. But this way, we're assured of having chicken on hand - when the grocery store was out. Their ground beef is also delicious! 

I've gone to town once/week. Yesterday, I noticed all the bacon was sold out -- but the W30 compliant was almost untouched, so that was great! Chuck roast has not been available, so I splurged & bought beef short ribs last week. A real treat during this time & so good w/ mashed potatoes! Here, steak has been available so far.

Sometimes, I've had to go to 2 different stores, but I've been able to buy sweet potatoes, potatoes, onion, cabbage, squash, carrots, celery, tomato, parsley/cilantro,  eggs, Nut Pod cream,[which I love], oranges, apples, bananas, mango, berries, grapes, avocado, lemon & lime, coconut milk & almond nut butter.

Some things are also on Amazon, like ghee & coconut water.

I'm just about to write in my Blog  how PEACEFUL & UPLIFTED I've felt - starting in the middle of the second week.  The first week was the hardest part, as I've never done W30 before & didn't have enough prep done ( like having chicken salad ready etc) ... but by the second week, it a lot easier & then the sense of well being kicked in, probably on Day 10. I've been very peaceful about everything & especially the issue of food/eating.  In this "zone", cravings are not an issue - don't really want any of the bad things & am enjoying these truly delicious meals*. Hope this helps!  

I'm not an egg person, so I have half baked sweet potato w/ nut pot vanilla cream, coffee, bacon & a dab of 0 sugar fig jam. Look forward to it every day!

I've allowed some things that aren't against the rules, but aren't encouraged either - but they are indulgent and keep me happy!
(like the fig jam; an after dinner "cordial" sometimes of half grape juice / half coconut water; & sometimes for breakfast, I make a Banana "crepe" w/ bacon. (Paleo recipe of just banana & eggs blended together + vanilla & cinnamon) , cooked w/ Ghee. 

My goal in W30 is not to get out of the habit of ever having/ enjoying dessert & yummy things, so I don't mind doing these small tweaks.

& B/c of digestive health, I also have a fruit/veggie Smoothie w/ Collagen in the afternoon.

JOURNEY NOTES

Noticed a Sense of Well Being kicked in during the second week - probably around Day 10.

It's been wonderful! I have such a sense of PEACE about food, & even about being in quarantine & this unusual time we are in.

I look forward to my W30 breakfast every morning and morning light / porch time / Spring beauty / trees/leaves / wind

In this "ZONE" of Peace and Well Being, cravings are banished! Nothing off plan interests me, and I look forward to my W30 meals.

I don't even seem to mind cooking, which is huge! B/c that has led to a lot of take out & fast foods in the past! Just didn't want to go to the trouble of food prep!

Favorites so far are:
my W30 breakfast of BACON/sweet potato/coffee/nut pods cream

being able to have potatoes w/ Ghee!

Chicken Salad w/ grapes/celery/almonds/lemon mayo //  Chicken & coconut sauce/chives/lemon/garlic

I can see how it would be good for me to basically stick to it after testing ...   And no worries if I go off a little- 
 
Thinking I would let Sunday be a day to have whatever I may want... :) 
 
But basically try to stick to it otherwise -- with God's help!

2/3 of the way there!  I love that you are starting to think about your reintro plan.  Definitely have a plan! And a plan for foods the few days after.  I found certain foods made me crave all the foods like a mad person.  If I hadn’t had a plan in place I may have never recovered my first round of reintro.  Keep up the good work and finish strong.

DAY 25!  Thursday 4-9 // INTO WEEK FOUR / 5 more days after today! 
 
Breakfast - half sweet potato mixed w/ vanilla pod cream / Coffee
Lunch - Delicious Curry Chicken Salad -  shredded & mixed with W30 mayo, golden raisins, toasted almonds, celery, curry powder/ on bed of lettuce
                  
DELICIOUS GRAPES on the side
 
Dinner will be porck chops / mashed or baked potato / steamed cabbage / skillet squash/onions / cucumber slices in Vinegar
 
Enjoying my Orange Water every day :)

JOURNAL  //  DAY 25  :)  5 MORE DAYS!  :)  // TESTING STARTS WED APRIL 15!

FROM NOTES TO MY DAUGHTER

 Elle, this Whole 30 is magical! I never dreamed it would be so powerful 
Basically after about Day 10, it turned into an absolute pleasure!

Well - almost! You still have to remind yourself to stick to the rules, but your cravings are banished, for the most part.
And my meals are pretty much delicious & I look forward to them!

I have a healthy BACON, sugar-free fig jam, sweet potato, mashed potatoes with ghee & delicious chicken salads, Chili w/avocado, roasts , green beans w/ almonds, tomato’s, cucumbers in vinegar, squash, spring onion, melon wrapped in prosciutto/ wonderful fruits, grapes & try to have a delicious Smoothie with collagen daily 

also LOVE orange squeezed into my water! Sip on it all day! Much better than lemon water, to me.

A cream call Nut Pod cream has been a wonderful discovery! I put  the vanilla in my morning sweet potato to make it fluffy &
a dollop of caramel in my Nespresso coffee sometimes. It’s on the shelf where canned milk is.
___
I thought W30 would be sheer drudgery the whole time! But it’s been more of a delight!
Of course, being on quarantine has lessened temptation quite a bit

:) About Day 10 - :) a Sense of well-being kicked in & entered a Zone of uplifted spirits
 
& a sense of peace  // & peace about doing W30 & feeling better

Thank you! She's expecting in November, but may try it sometime next year.  She's already stopped a daily Starbucks habit, so that's good!

DAY 26!  Friday 4-10 // INTO WEEK FOUR / 4 more days after today! :)

Breakfast - Orange water / coffee / cooked a package of bacon & had 2 pieces

Late Lunch - Nana Crepe / pear jam / coffee / 4 pc bacon!

Snack - Bowl of Veggie Soup / pc bacon / 0 smoothie today

*for dinner yesterday - made veggie soup w/ left over roast & beef broth - so good.

  So had the pork chops tonight & french green beans / chives / half baked potato w/ ghee & parsley/chives / small BLT Salad 

Snack - a few grapes & sipped on Peach coconut waer

* Lavender Epsom Salt Bath - so relaxing

Full & satisfied / Sleepy / thankful for a good W30 day :)

DAY 27!  Saturday 4-11 // INTO WEEK FOUR / 3 more days after today! :)

Can hardly believe just 3 more days! Honestly wasn't sure if I could stay the course!

Today, had an IBS flare-up - first time since being on W30.  Finally had to take a pill; felt like dong things earlier today, but then just needed to rest during & after ...

Concerned, b/c now if I have a flare-up during testing, won't be 100% sure its from the new food group...

Had half a baked pear this morning w/ a few toasted almonds & a cup of cofee -

I put a Tbsp of Nut pod cream in the coffee - more than usual - could that be the culprit?

Took a prescription pill to calm the IBS around 4pm & rested

5pm - hungry, so had Collagen Smoothie of just Coconut-Pinepple Water. half banana & scoop of Collagen - left out apple / berries / spinach today

Feels soothing --

DAY 28!  Sunday 4-12 //  END OF WEEK FOUR! / JUSTmore days after today :)

Yesterday was the first time I've had an IBS flareup since starting W30 on March 16 -
it could have been too much Nut Cream in my coffee Or - tomato soup & lots of bacon on Friday ...  no idea, really.

After taking my med & resting, I recovered enough to eat dinner - half steak & a baked potato w/ghee & parsley
& an after dinner coridal of grape juice/coconut water / tummy at peace & went to bed earlier

SUNDAY MORNING - :) Celebrating the Miraculous RESSURRECTION of our Lord Jesus 

Feeling fine / back to normal / had morning coffee & baked a sweet potato for later

Off schedule today // late meals
Tummy Smoothie around 1pm / just nana & coconut-pineapple water/ almond extract / 0 apple/berries/spinach today

Around 2 - half baked sweet porato w/ vanilla pod milk

Around 5 - Made a Spinach Salad I've been wanting to try, based on an old recipe / adapted for W30

around 7 - Another Spinach Salad & half Honey Crisp Apple 

Making chicken salad for tomorrow & will have  some of that or left over pork chop & green beans / parsley

Probably have a small after dinner Cordial of grape juice mixed with coconut water, before bed :)

SPINACH SALAD DRESSING ADAPTED FOR W30

Shake together in jar:

1/4 c light olive oil
2 Tbsp cider vinegar
2.5 Tbsp Primal Kitchen Ketchup
1 Tbsp Primal Kit Teriyaki Sauce - or more for more sweetness
1/8 tsp salt
1/16 tsp pepper

^ This is half recipe Dressing -  double for a whole bag of spinach

For One Salad

Spinach leaves - enough for 1 serving
Fried Bacon, 2 strips, torn in bite size pieces
Orange slices/ cut into bite size pieces - a handful
Toasted almonds - 1 to 2 Tbsp

Toss 2 Tbsp dressing with spinach in your salad bowl; sprinkle with orange slices/ bacon & almonds / Best if bacon is warm - reheat in microwave if needed.  ** Add more dressing & ingredients as desired **

I read last night that W30 frowns on the Keto banana pancake, even though the ingredients are compliant.

They want u to be out of the habit of pancakes - BUT that's not an issue for me anyway - I rarely eat pancakes.

And since I usually can't face an egg in the morning, the
Banana/egg recipe has been fun & filling &

a pleasant addition to my W30 journey, for sure!
