Day 17 and I Feel Terrible

I am currently on day 17, and I’m feeling terrible. No Tiger Blood yet! I am bloated, constipated, and sleeping terribly. I am following the program completely, and I think I am doing a good job as far as getting lots of veggies, etc. I have tried to make adjustments, but nothing seems to be helping. Any advice?

Hi. It's hard to say what might be going on without more information, but there are a few common culprits for feeling this way. First, make sure you're drinking plenty of water -- aim for about a half ounce per pound of body weight, so a 120-lb person needs at least 60 oz. Also be sure you're getting a serving or two of fat in addition to whatever oil you cook in at each meal. These two things may help with the constipation if you haven't already been doing them.

Bloating can be exacerbated by eating a lot of nuts, having a lot of raw vegetables, or eating a lot of cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, or cauliflower.  Focus on cooked vegetables and limit cruciferous vegetables and nuts and see if that helps.

As far as sleep, so many things can affect it, not all food-related. You could try magnesium before bed (which might also help with the constipation) -- some people find it helps them sleep. Having a serving of starchy vegetables in your final meal of the day might help. Limiting caffeine and only having it before noon can help. You could also look into sleep hygiene for tips on setting a bedtime routine.

Hopefully something here sounds helpful to you, but if not, list a day or two of typical meals, including approximate portion sizes, and we can see if anything stands out that might help.

Thank you! I am actually doing all of these things because I have been looking to the forum and Reddit for advice. Here is a typical day...

Breakfast: 2 cups of coffee with nutpods, egg, bacon avocado, sweet potato, misc. veggies.

No caffeine after noon.

Lunch: salad with lots of veggies, bacon, eggs, Whole30 dressing.

Dinner: usually something from the Whole30 cookbook and always adding lots of veggies.

About 75 oz. of water per day (I weigh 135).

500 mg magnesium citrate

Thanks for your help!
