MyWar
I'm on my ninth day of my second W30, and I feel awesome and committed. I'm wondering if or how you all plan to reward yourselves when you "finish" (whether it's 30, 45, 100, or forever). If your sugar dragon is laying in a ditch and you've mostly erased all your emotional connections to food and drink, what are some other ways to pat yourself on the back for taking control? New jeans? Vitamix? Crossfit membership? New set of 45lb bumpers? Mark Sisson's new book? I just made an appointment for an organic facial on January 30th. It's something kind of luxurious that I've never done before, and I'm pretty excited about it. Maybe the greatest gift I can give myself is an increased awareness of the effect food has on my body and mind, but this is the next best thing. Plus I'm saving at least $180 this month on not buying lunch at work, so this facial and my new yoga membership are paid for already. Also, I know that ideally we wouldn't reward ourselves just for doing what's right for our bodies, but I need a little something to look forward to at the end of the month! Lisa@SwissPaleo
I know it doesn't sound like much of a reward, but I'm going to get my hair cut. I rarely take the time to get it cut and I take the lazy way out and just put it back in a clip or ponytail. Haircuts where I live are expensive and start at around 100 dollars (200 if you get highlights), so this really is a bit of a treat.
lilangel4824
Well, if I start this program on Sunday like I plan, by the end of the 30 days I will be leaving for Disney. While I always try and eat healthy, I am using Disney as my "reward" for sticking to the program. I have a feeling that I will jump right back on board after my vacation. But it is my vacation and I like to enjoy my food!
Michele West
Hmmmmm, I haven't actually given this any thought, but I think I might book a massage! It's something I never do for myself and I think it's a great non-food reward.
Amanda9822
Haven't thought about this... but now I will! Yeah!
Contessa
What a great question this is. Thanks for bringing it up. One thing I want to re-wire in my brain is around this issue of non-food rewards. And a facial sounds scrumptious. I love the thought of having a really great non-food treat after completing the W30.... finishing this is going to be a really big accomplishment for me. Renee
MyWar, you seem to have tons of ideas (some of which I might borrow ) I completed a Whole45 last november, but I haven't actually got myself a reward. By the time I was done (Dec. 15), things were pretty crazy with the holidays around the corner (i.e. no money to spend on myself). This time might be different though. I shop quite often, so clothes and shoes are not that special to me. Instead, I will probably get a massage, a facial, or a mani/pedi. Something relaxing, just about me and that makes me feel good after.
dragonfly7
Since my goal is to improve mental health and its physical side effects, the ability to get and keep a job using the degree I just finished will be reward enough for me. Some new clothes wouldn't hurt, though. : )
Contessa
Speaking of new clothes, this morning I tried on a pair of tried 'n' true business trousers that have been a reliable go-to. I had one of those made-for-TV moments where I zipped them up and realized they were so big that they wouldn't stay put. It was as if I'd been dropped into one of those cornball TV commercials for a Shake Weight or something. I've been eating Paleo since October, so this isn't just the evidence of the past 10 days of the W30, but still. I don't think I'd really realized how much excess bloat/weight I'd been dropping until this morning.

Kat1
This dawned on me yesterday, that I hadn't set up a reward system for completing my 1st w30. I was on my way to DSW coming home from work - just to mindlessly pickup a new pair of black heels for work (and really just because) and I stopped myself - I decided a really nice new black pair of shoes would be a great reward. I'm also going to get myself a new lululemon workout outfit. I usually cheap-out on stuff I'm just going to get sweaty, but I think it would be an appropriate award to keep me motivated

I hadn't thought of it until you asked but my initial reaction was haircut. I am in desperate need of a good expensive haircut lol. We normally don't have the money but we reworked the budget so that I would have some personal spending money (we haven't had enough for personal spending money sigh) and haircut is TOP of the list. Our new budget starts right when I end the Whole30. SO excited for myself now LOL!
