Side Pork

I tried searching and couldn't find much on this. I asked my butcher about complaint bacon and he suggested side pork. It's sliced like bacon, but it's unsmoked and uncured. I got some, have tried it once..... and it was disgusting. I just fried it up like bacon though. So, I'm wondering, does anyone have any recipes or cooking methods to make it taste better? Should I have put some salt on it first? Should I put it with something? I still have a lot left and I'd like for it to not go to waste.
