I follow a vegan diet on two days a week. can i add these plant based items to my meal? technically i am not on a round but try to follow a whole30 ish rule for all practical purposes. so doing plantbased whole30 2 days a week ? while other days doing the regular whole 30? like eating hummus on veggie days?

Is chickpea flour allowed?

Are moth beans ok- they are legumes just like mung.

During your food freedom -- which is what you're doing now -- you decide what works for you. Right now, if two plant-based days a week works well for you, go for it. If you were to do an official Whole30, you would choose one, rather than mixing and matching from the two.

On the plant-based Whole30, all legumes are allowed, so both chickpea flour and moth beans would be fine, with the usual caveat that you can’t use the flour to re-create bread or other baked goods -- the Pancake Rule still stands in the plant-based Whole30.

If you haven't yet, you can head here to check out the details of the plant-based Whole30:  https://whole30.com/plant-based/, and there is a link there to put in your email and get a pdf file with the pb rules, shopping list, recipes, and other info.

Thanks for the prompt reply. i am not technically on a round but for the most part eat whole30. so now does it mean legumes are acceptable?

are we required to stick to plantbased or the original Whole30 and that we cannot mix and match ? why is that?

Thanks

If what works for you when you're not on the Whole30 is to eat a variety of protein sources including animal and plant based, then that's something that you work out for yourself, there are no conditions on your Food Freedom. So if you're not doing a Whole30 and your Food Freedom looks a lot like Whole30 but with legumes, then that's your Food Freedom.

For the purposes of actually doing a Whole30, whether original or Plant Based, they are two separate programs that cannot be mixed and matched.

The Original program provides sufficient protein options, and would allow you to test a wider range of plant-based protein options during reintroduction to dial in which work best for you.

If you are an omnivore and want to see how 30 days without any animal products might feel, then the Plant-Based Whole30 is the right choice.
