sugarbelly
Hello! There are new FDA Requirments that mandate companies to note "Added sugar" content on their Nutritional labels to include sugar created during a product's production process, EVEN IF, it's a result of the production process. Oatly, maker of oat milk for example, has complied with this FDA change, even though they do NOT have any added sugar in their ingredients. In these cases, if added sugar is not in the ingredients, can we have that food? Thanks ----------------- https://www.oatly.com/en-us/random-answers "Why do your nutrition labels now include added sugars? Did you change your oatmilk recipe? Nope! We haven’t changed anything about our recipe, ingredients, or production process, and we don’t add any sweeteners to our Original, Low-Fat, Full Fat or Barista Edition oatmilk. We did, however, change our nutrition fact panels in accordance with new FDA guidance regarding sugar labeling. This new guidance provides that any sugar created during a product’s production process should be listed as “added sugar,” even if the sugar is a result of that production process." It's only the ingredient list you need to worry about for the purpose of the Whole30. As long as sugar or any sugar substitutes or sneaky sugars are not listed in the ingredient list, then it doesn't matter what the nutritional panel says.
