Renee McCarty
When I was a little girl, we had a german lady next door who made her own sauerkraut in a barrel in the basement. It was ugly, but yummy. It seemed like it kept forever, but I was a little kid, so what did I know? I recently re-discovered sauerkraut, but it will take me a really long time to eat that whole little bag by myself, as hubby thinks I'm crazy and won't touch it. How long is a reasonable amount of time to keep it? Thanks!!
Rojo
I don't know the answer, but I love sauerkraut too!
QuakerMom
I have been buying sauerkraut from some farmers at our market (they just started making it last fall -- awesome stuff, nothing but organic cabbage and salt) -- the label on it says it will keep for 'several months' in the refrig. It is in a jar, but i don't think that should make a diff.
