Renee McCarty
I am on Day 15, and by all accounts I am doing great. Enjoying the food, not hungry, feeling good, decrease in arthritis pain. That said, my pants are getting tighter, and I am frustrated that I am not seeing results in my body, which needs to lose some weight! I am doing this out of desperation, after years of dieting nothing was working anymore, and while I am not weighing or measuring, I want to so bad!! My hubby and a girlfriend are both doing this with me, and they are definitely getting baggy around the waistband. I know the "magic" happens at different times for different people, but this is really scary... All this high fat... maybe I'm eating too much... Scary! Would appreciate hearing some stories from people who did not have an easy time but still saw success... Thanks!
Kaleena
It seems a lot of people are feeling this way! I was freaking out about putting on weight but I'm just going to sum it up as being due to a lot of vegetables and "shocking" my system with a different way of eating. Hopefully we both wake up one morning with abs of steel...lol
Renee McCarty
Honey, I did not have abs of steel when I was a child... LOL! But I would take a decrease in the saggy-baby-belly!
El Paco
I feel the same way
jabisk
Me too and I have been wondering when my body is going to decide to start burning fat. Any day now would be fine with me
AmyS
I'm on my third Whole30 right now and I can say definitively that while I did, in fact, lose some weight (in my case much of it caused by inflammation), the baby belly isn't going away without surgery. It just ain't. But I do have those kids, so...
Ann
I'm on my second W30 (first was in July), and I lost 10# on my first go-round. I remember freaking out after a day or two when I made the mistake of plugging my food into Fitday, and seeing how much fat/calories I had eaten. I decided to forge ahead and trust the science behind this plan anyway. And it worked. The months following my W30, I rode my own bike, doing good sometimes, not so great other times, but managed to shed another 10# over the next two months. Then things happened and I went completely off plan for a couple months, and bam, gained 5# back. I'm doing another W30 because I know it works. And I'm regaining my solid footing before getting back on that bike, which will hopefully be much more stable this time. You are on day 15? Give it the full 30, see what happens. Renee McCarty
Thank you so much, Ann! I appreciate your input! I have several friends who do this as a lifestyle and they are both fit and full of energy, so I am trying to trust the process. And at 53, I know that I have to modify my expectations some to account for menopause and all that other good stuff. I think I'm just too impatient, and who knows, maybe it's going to be a Whole 60? melbournegirl
I think also that some of us take awhile to learn our true hunger level and how much to eat, or some of us have more damaged weight control hormones than others so it takes longer for fat burning to work properly. This is my third month with only 2 non compliant days and while I have lost overall, my visible fat loss and gain is an unpredictable roller coaster ride... Which is why it's critical to not weigh... You want to let your body truly fix itself once and for all... So keep going, you will get there
Nadia B
Renee, even if you feel like you are gaining weight etc - do not sabotage yourself. Under no circumstances, please. I just did it this morning, my jeans were tight, my scales were there...you get the rest. I got super emotional and upset. This is pretty stupid that logic doesn't work here, but I guess girls will be girls. ABS of steel sounds wicked!
Renee McCarty
Thanks for the reminder, Cicatella!! My hubby has threatened to throw the scale away if I so much as open the closet door where it is stored... So I've been good. I really don't want to sabotage myself. I guess this is a really good lesson in patience for me, which I must be in dire need of! LOL! And just so everyone knows, I have abs of steel... you just can't see them! LOL! Nadia B
Good job, keep that door closed I so regret allowing myself to take them out. Well, lesson learned.
Aberrantatavia
Renee, Yes, it starts with food, but it isn't all about the food... There are other factors too. What kind of sleep are you getting? Are you staying hydrated? Are you in relatively good health or do you have special circumstances of some sort? It's so hard when we are "programmed" that if we do A then B will be the result. We increase our expectations of ourselves and our results and then feel like we've failed instead of focusing on the good things. When I learned to let go of that, I became a healthier me in lots of ways! Good luck!
