wicki859
Hi everyone, Just needing some support here. I have my inlaws over for dinner. I planned and prepared a lovely Whole30 compliant meal. They brought a delicious smelling loaf of garlic bread, and my husband bought snacks for the game. I am going out of my mind. All I want is a slice of bread as they all sit around me slicing it, eating it, and exclaiming how delicious it is. AHHHHHH!!!!! I want a slice. I want a cookie. I want a slice of cheese. I WANT to finish this Whole30! Nine days left for me. Thanks for listening.
Susan W
Quick! Go eat an avocado or something equally as luscious.
kaybee
No, don't give up now! I just spent 6 hours serving delicious french toast and buttermilk biscuits to people -- if I can do it, you can too. I just tell myself NO, but remind myself that in a few short days I can have it if I still want it. Hold out!
Ann
21 days in - don't give in to temptation now! It is likely not nearly as delicious and satisfying as your mind is trying to tell you it is, you desperately want it because you "can't" have it. Remember, you are in control, and you CAN have it if you want to, but you are CHOOSING not to (for now), for some very important reasons. That thing (bread/cheese/cookie) will still be in there in a week and a half, and at that point you can decide if it is going to be INCREDIBLY delicious, special, or significant enough to go off road for. Go get a W30 treat of some sort - a spoonful of coconut butter? A warm, comforting cup of tea? Can you go for a little walk during the game, to get away from the tempting stuff, clear your head a bit, and get some endorphins going?
CAK911
Yes. Get a cup of black coffee or nice tea. Have some avocado. Or, if you can do so without being rude, leave the room to go do something not food related. Or, if you want to hang out but disengage, flip through a magazine or something and really try to focus. Or, maybe even just go brush your teeth. You have done SO much work to get where you are. You have 9 more days to go. You can do this -- look how much you've already done. kellyp
You can do it! Just find something to occupy your mind. You have gone this far, don't stop now!

wicki859
Thanks for all of the encouragement. I did it! I kept myself busy with non-food things while they gorged on bread and junk. My only slip was that, while they ate strawberry shortcake, I ate a frew too many fresh berries with whipped coconut milk. Who knew that could be so delicious?!? I'm glad I didn't cave. NatPatBen
Congratulations on resisting! You can whip coconut milk?? I've put it in my Ninja pulse to whip it. I didn't get it to be the consistency of whipped cream, but maybe if I'd only used the fat that floated to the top, it would've been whippier. jennrider
Like This suzytee Today, 07:02 AM You can whip coconut milk?? I haven't tried this, but ran across these directions: Put a can of coconut milk in the fridge overnight. Open the can and pour the coconut water off the top (save for a different use). Whip the creamy stuff still in the can. You can also put a can of coconut milk, an egg and two tablespoons of coconut in a blender. It has to sit in the fridge for a few hours to thicken. I have had mixed results with this method.
wicki859
I chilled the can and then whipped it.It was my first attempt. No, it was not the same consistency, but it was tastey nonetheless over the blueberries and strawberries. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and it satisfied my need for dessert while those around me indulged. I swear sometimes I feel like I'm sitting in the lions den the way they eat around me. What keeps me going though is my desire to feel well again.
