Mom2A&M
Can I have almond flour with IBS protocol? It's says no nuts or nut butter due to texture....eggs are out too, so needing some variety in breakfast besides homemade sausage patties.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted January 22, 2013 Moderators Share Posted January 22, 2013 I don't know for sure, but I would think no because the almond is still there, just in a powder form. During a Whole30, the only use for almond flour, coconut flour, etc. is browning meat or thickening a sauce. No Paleo baked goods are allowed during a Whole30. Mom2A&M
I found a coconut meal, with banana and almond flour. I'm not sure how to get variety in the morning with no eggs and no nuts. Turkey sausage, chicken sausage, hash are all good but it's starting to feel repetitive.
SpinSpin
What about cooked veg ( I was going to say salad, but with IBS might not be a good thing), leftovers from dinner, try not to just think of your first meal as breakfast--maybe have dinner for breakfast instead? melbournegirl
I usually have a variety of puréed veggie soups with different cooked meats added in and a spoon of ghee on top most days, or a mild chicken veg curry or a ground beef cooked with ghee and grated veg. Mom2A&M
I can't have ghee, or curry either. I thought about a salad but maybe only on the days I am home from work . Puréed soup sounds mild enough to try. Thanks.
johnsona
I can relate, as I am on the IBS protocol as well! The Practical Paleo cookbook has a good spice blend that I premake a bunch of and put it into a sausage made from ground pork and chicken. It has rosemary, sage, thyme, lemon peel, and salt. It's really good and makes me feel like I am eating "spicy" food. I know you said you are sick of sausages, but thought the spices might make it a little more bearable? Personally, I am staying away from any flours for this 30 days. I will be doing a second 30 and maybe adding some almonds, as they haven't seemed to bother me. But we'll see if that's the case after these 30 days!
Mom2A&M
I have been making my own sausage with turkey, unsweetened applesauce, cinnamon, ginger, poultry seasoning salt and pepper. And I have been eating sweet potato hash or butternut squash with it.
