Marci0393
So I read this depressing article today: http://www.takepart.com/article/2013/01/23/food-fraud?cmpid=foodinc-fb I often wonder if my "Certified Organic" foods are really organic. Between food fraud, factory farming, gmo's, antibiotic resistant disease, preservatives, monsanto, water contamination, the bees disapearing and pesticides, I just want to buy a farm with a clean well and never leave. I am thinking communes are going to make a comeback.

I've been plotting this for a couple of years. unfortunately, i have zero experience with animal husbandry, and it would either be a disaster or really expensive (to hire people that know what they're doing)
carolinaBlue
I'll be in charge of the animals! I was in 4-H for years & majored in animal husbandry in college.
Sharon Simpson Thumann
Also, if the soil isn't up to par when you first buy some land for growing fruits and veggies you can plant them in boxes using good mixes and compost. My parents have a small farm. My Dad raised a cow and pig every year for butchering and planted a 5 acre garden, plus my Mom had chickens(she still does). My parents are older now and can't really do it all by themselves, but if I could afford to move back, I would in a heartbeat. Unfortunately it's a really small town and jobs are scarce and I would have to be completely debt free other than basics like utilities.
