Liquid smoke - cause for a restart?

Last week my husband fired up our new food dehydrator and made a batch of beef jerky. I was so excited to finally have some compliant jerky for an easy, quick protein source. I had 2 pieces before he told me that he had included 1 tsp of liquid smoke to the marinade (for 5# beef). I thought he was on board for doing this Whole30 but since he had not read the book yet, he really did not understand the 'spirit' of the process.

The liquid smoke contains soy and sugar - ACK! Does this require a restart?

Hmmm....I think you already posted this unless we are all living in a parallel universe. :) The consensus was that it was unintentional and such a minuscule amount that you should just carry on. Either it was Robin or Tom who agreed with me so you are good. I also let you know that Wrights Liquid Smoke id compliant and very easy to find.

Anything with soy and sugar is out. Whether you need to restart is debatable. I hope I'm not getting too soft, but at the moment I would say you can just keep going.

Lol....it must have been Robin who agreed with my vote of no restart. :)
