Ok, that was gross! How did I live before W30?

I wrapped up my Whole30 on January 30th, and was pleased with my progress and delighted with how great I felt. Of course I intended to continue. With some few exceptions, I've kept my food choices within the program since then, still eating meals consisting of protein, fat and veggies. The exceptions have been some wine, some hot chocolate (with almond milk) and, ok, some dessert -- sweets and wheat. So far so good, no major impact. Until tonight! Big snowstorm over the weekend, long hours, exhaustion and no way to travel except on foot brought my hubs and I to a local restaurant, where we both ordered the burger with fries and ketchup and a cocktail. UGH! This was high-quality food, and I enjoyed it at the time...but still -- by the time I was done I felt like I swallowed a bomb, and that bomb might just explode. I swear my waist is 4" bigger than it was this morning. What did I do?! I justified: "I'm done with the plan, it's just one meal, I'm exhausted, we've eaten all the food in the house, I don't feel like cooking, and we can't drive to anything better". I wish I could undo it, I seriously want it OUT of my body. Don't worry, I won't do anything rash, but I'd like to...I suppose I should just count it as a lesson learned. Did I really used to eat like this all the time? Foul, foul, foul.... It can become so very difficult to make the right decision when you're tired and hungry!

One good thing though: I passed on the mac & cheese, which undoubtably would've been 10x worse and not even that tasty. Pre-W30 me would've had the mac for sure.

I think I now realize I need rules. Moderation will do me in, every time.

I am on day 35? or so, stopped counting. I am like you, I need "rules" to eat by. I plan to stick to the core of "compliancy" and have no plans to reintroduce anything just because I feel so good and three larger meals fits in better to my day. However, will not punish myself if I eat bacon that has a smidge of sugar in the curing process, or unknowingly ingest something has a sulphite or sulphate that is not "clean". Thanks for sharing your lesson!
