clabbergirl
Here's an interesting discussion about the differences between true ghee and clarified butter... http://forums.egullet.org/topic/94112-store-bought-ghee/ An older table of ghee brands compared: http://freeradicalfederation.com/Ghee_Comparison_Table
LettyCCC
How long with Ghee last and do you store it in the fridge?
critter999
Not sure how long it lasts. I'm guessing a while. Mine says not to store in the fridge.
Mary Carmosino Beougher
I have a question about refrigerated ghee. The Publix right down from me has started carrying ghee, which is great since the only other place near me that has it is on the other side of town. The problem is they keep it with the butter in the cold area. Would this make it bad to use? Or would it be okay? I've mentioned to a couple different people there it doesn't have to be kept cold, but they haven't moved it. I'd like to buy it there for the convenience, but if the refrigeration will make it icky, I'll keep going to the other store.
missmary
I don't think keeping ghee in the refrigerated section would damage it, it's just not necessary. The best choice for ghee would be from grass-fed organic milk, refrigerated or not.
R.andy
I have been a foodie for eons. I learned about ghee from W9. Seriously, it is the easiest thing in the world to make. Ten times easier than mayo. Cuts the price in half if not more. Yes is this make from cow milk ?

It's the Purity Farms brand which says organic and pastured.
leahcarn
I make ghee from 500g of butter, keep it on the benchtop, and it takes around 4 weeks until its gone. Just me and hubby at home, and I tend to cook with it and coconut oil 50/
